Every single piece of (mainly ceramic) objects of art is a masterpiece. This is the third time I visited the museum, and will certainly return. The staff is very knowledgeable, the shop has some great collections of masterpieces at different prices (depending on the high...More

If you enter El Alabado full of preconceptions, as I did, be prepared to have your eyes opened. In the course of my education, I’d learned that ancient art had progressed from Egypt to Athens to Rome. But, later in life, on encountering the marvels...More

Very much enjoyed this museum. Fabulous collection of artifacts. So different than native American pottery and ceramics that I am familiar with. Objects are well displayed and include English translation. It would be helpful if some introductory context was provided about the regions/groups that correspond...More

A lovely museum in an old villa with a good collection of artifacts dating back to 2000 - 3000BCE. Be sure to opt for the audio tour as there is little printed description of items.

Lovely new collection of pre columbian pieces. The building alone is worth it, and they have done a great job with the display. A bit light on the interpretation, but includes an audio guide in English. Refreshing break from the colonial overload.

Well designed museum that centers on the pre-Columbian artifacts. The museum building was renovated and is beautiful and well laid out. The pieces are well edited, presented simply and there is a lot of information available to fully understand this period in the Ecuadorian history.

This is an example of how a museum should look like! It is an old colonial house in downtown Quito, with great decoration and space arrangement in which you can walk around and understand the evolution of Ecuadorian pre- Hispanic history. Just Great!!!

Difficult to describe this museum but it is different, at least in Quito and it will worst it to visit. You will discover things of Ecuadorian culture in a complete new way. Visit the museum and you will understand why.

This would be a must visit location. I was blown away by the quality of the collection and the docents ability to help me understand this segment of history.
