A beautiful monument located near the waterfront and I sense those young sailors for whom it was erected would prefer it to be here rather than tucked away in some remote hillside location of Valparaiso. I do not see the traffic. .human and otherwise as being a distraction or disrespect to this Monument.

This Plaza has seen much better days. Many of the buildings surrounding the square are run down, abandoned, with broken windows and ugly graffiti sprayed all over. The exception is a gorgeous blue navy "Armada" eclectic building from the 19th Century that is well maintained but not open t the pubic.

We visited the Plaza in March and it was almost empty around noon time. I was expecting a fun and noisy plaza, but it was somewhat boring and nothing much to do around there. At least there was a Starbuck right in the plaza area. We moved on to other places after 30 minutes there.

An interesting square that is marred by the non stop flow of traffic running along the main road and also entering and leaving the port car park. Nevertheless, the memorial with the navy building behind makes a good photo.

We were on a city tour of Valparaiso and this was one of the stops....we actually spent about 45 minutes here learning the history of the plaza. The focus of the square is the monument that honors the Chilean sailors who fell during the Battle of Iquique and the Battle of Punta Gruesa. The plaza and surrounding buildings were designated... This is a memorial to a ship most at sea, dedicated to outstanding bravery by two sailors in particular. It is a nice memorial

One of the more sanest parts of town. Has beautiful architecture, a lovely monument, and a nice harbour background.

A the centre of the square is a monument dedicated to the heros' of a South American conflict. It is very busy and surrounded by some interesting buildings. The quaint public transport trolley-buses pass this square too.

You need to walk away from here to enjoy what is on offer in downtown Valpo. I especially don't recommend the cafes on the square. Noisy, no view and weak cortado.

This is the meeting point in Valparaiso where every ships arrives to. You can take a boat tour (about 1 hour) to have a nice view of the city from the ocean and you will probably see some sealions in there! it's a nice and economic activity!
