During the gold rush in California and before the Panama Canal was built, when Valparaiso was THE port in South SA merica serving the western United States, this street in Valparaiso was one of the wealthiest in the world. Spend an hour walking both ways!

On the lower ground, at the foot of the city foothills, you'll still find colourful buildings and quaint architecture and this neighbourhood surrounding the main docks is better than most for some photos and a sense of the town.

Have lots of fun exploring the little side alleys and road but be prepared for a lot of steep climbs and outstanding views.
