Among the great cathedrals of the world this one does not particularly stand out. From the outside it's got real presence but I didn't feel this was carried through into the rather gloomy interior. When we visited the rows of confession booths were staffed with priests taking on the sins of the city. Some of the side chapels were the... More

This is a must see for tourists in Santiago. Be careful about pickpocketing in that area because it's crowded. There are many shops nearby which you can walk around and shop for souvenirs, it's in the center of the town, easy to get to by subway, bus, by foot. Beautiful inside, it's a huge cathedral. No admissions fee.

Not much to say: it is a Cathedral as you would expect, but with above the average ornaments. If I recall correctly, no entry fee

I was visiting the National Historical Museum nearby, and while wandering around the area, found the door on the side of this beautiful Cathedral slightly open. Upon entering, I noticed the magnificent architecture and artworks. The interior gave me a feeling of peace, and I sat on the pew for some time, just adoring the view. Definitely an excellent place... More

Situated on the main square where the people revolted against and defeated the Spanish. A good tour guide is valuable to explain all the history of the nation.

This is a basilica style Roman Catholic Church that is the archbishop's home cathedral. We were lucky to hear him speaking about Chile's social issues although in Spanish. It is of European design reflecting French style. Walk around and observe the chapels, stained glass and other religious objects.

Having been all over Europe, and getting blown away by the duomo's in Italy it's hard to have an unbiased eye, but still this Cathedral was beautiful. We went around 12pm and all their cadets were having mass. Pretty cool experience. The area around it is almost like a little park, small, but great to stop and sit on a... More
