Visited here recently whilst on an Expedition Trip. Beautiful scenery and stunning wildlife. Had to keep my eyes peeled to make sure I didn't fall over a penguin. Well worth the walk to see the King's, Rockhopper's and Albatross. If you ever get the opportunity to come here don't miss it!

Expect basic accomodation and a fantastic location. The neck has a portakabin type place overlooking the two beaches. You are a bit at the mercy of those who preceeded you in the two four person bedrooms, one shower room/toilet , and kitchen/living room accomodation. We have stayed here before and opted to have sole use of one of the bedrooms.... More

We stayed at the portakabin at the neck on Saunders island for 4 nights as part of a photography group (7 people). The portakabin is a remote self-catering facility. The portakabin has 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom has bunkbeds accommodating 4 people. There is a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. The central room of the portakabin serves as sitting room,... More

We visited as part of an Antarctic cruise and although we were 110 passengers were treated warmly by the owner and his family. My spouse was on crutches and Biffa (the owners's sister) kindly offered to take us to see the island by Range Rover and explained a lot about life on the island to us. The different species of... Saunders Island boasts no less than five penguin species. We visited here last month as part of an Antarctic cruise that encompassed the Falklands and South Georgia. Our landing point was right at the neck, or isthmus, of Saunders Island, and an easy trail went past a whole host of penguin rookeries to the west coast, where we spent most... More

This was our 4th visit to the Falands and 3rd to Saunders. We stayed overnight at the settlement and then to the Neck for 4 days. Although, the weather wasn't the best this time, very windy, it didn't detract from the experience in the slightest. The drive from the settlement gives you a real feel for the island. Watch out... We were stunned at the cost of transfer by 4x4 across a very bumpy road from the airport to the Neck. We arrived at the accommodation . It was better than we expected but a no time did the owner make an effort to check the facility. Only picking up the dirty bed linen and dropping off a clean lot.... More
