A friend's recommendation led me to this bookshop and it didn't disappoint. What would have been good to know, however, is that they have hard to find English publications by authors from Singapore and other parts of Asia. They are hard to find, at least where I live in Melbourne, because these stories aren't often printed. I appreciate that book... More

There was no sign or what so ever about this place. Collections of book was amazing. Most Titles are something I've never heard of. Place was really small and packed, but the arrangement was neat and clean. Expect to spend more than 1 hour since all books were really interesting and challenging. Prices are so-so. Don't forget to play with... More

I was looking for something a little different in Singapore. Not far from the Tiong Bahru market, BooksActually sells a number of books by local authors. Plus, there is a book vending machine outside the store, but the books are wrapped, so you don't know what you'll be receiving.

Not that difficult to find (mind you, they are on G. Maps!) Amazing selection from local authors, carefully selected reads from the world. Their own imprint - "Math Paper Press" offers a great selection from local writers. They also do carry certain titles from other independent publishers in Singapore, of which some have won local awards. Would strongly recommend to... More

A terrific surprise in one of Singapore's most wanderer-friendly neighborhoods -- lots of house-published literature and poetry and sketchbooks, along with funky shadow-box and other small-object arts. Eminently browsable.

Found previous ratings interesting so decided to visit this store. Difficult to find, sign out front is mostly gone. Enter, no greeting from either staff. Back room filled with old bottles--nothing interesting. Books mostly vanity press productions. Inquire about old books about Singapore--nothing. In ten minutes we were done and very disappointed. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

bought a few cute souvenirs from here - antiques that I would've found in my grandma's old home + a fantastic local graphic novel series called 'the resident tourist'

My friend and I spent almost two hours in this compact book store. We loved the eclectic collection of texts and the abundance of local Singaporean writers. We both ended up purchasing books that we are excited to read and that we probably wouldn't find elsewhere.

Found this place and the shop brings me back to my childhood time because of the stuff for sale. The books collection is also unique and unusual.
