A cultural, educational and pampering experience. With the soft tinkling music, we found ourselves whispering! This is one of the few remaining teahouses left in Singapore. Well worth a visit to learn about the culture and art of tea drinking.

The Yixing Xuan Teahouse is around the corner from the bustle of Chinatown. It is located on Tanjong Pagar Rd, just a few steps from Duxton Hill, Chinatown's Tooth Relic Temple, Maxwell MRT and Tg Pagar MRT. (This section of Tg Pagar Rd is actually home to many Korean BBQ restaurants.)

We were educated about tea and the customs and culture of tea drinking in Asia. We were treated to two pots of tea and also had some delicious dim sums.

The whole experience was wonderful.

Did the workshop with a friend. We learnt a lot about the differences between white, green, black teas. When they are picked, how tea is made etc. Very informative. We were taught how to serve tea and taste it. At the end we could spend time chatting whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea and snacks. Very friendly atmosphere and informative session. Highly recommend.

My daughter and I spent a wonderful couple of hours here, learning about tea and trying our hand at pouring for ourselves. We were made to feel very welcome, and the shop is a lovely place to be. My favourite was the black tea and now that I am back home in Scotland, I am enjoying the tea that I brought home with me. A little taste of Singapore in Glasgow. Would definitely recommend this experience, and I hope to visit again.

Good ambience but the tea quality is only medicore. Longjing which taste like fried chicken is quite appalling to be honest. Longjing should be nutty and refreshing. Knowledge is also so so, for one, it was said that there is only 4 type of Chinese tea variety - incorrect.
Charlene is a good host, other than that, there are better quality tea leaf out there.

My individual tea appreciation workshop lasted more than three hours as Charlene covered all the information she had about tea and answered all my questions. We communicated so well about our mutual love of our I left the shop with many products to add to my collection. Her knowledge of course is far superior to mine. This is the one year anniversary of my visit and it is still very clear in my mind and I often think about returning there. Hopefully I will soon.

My daughter and I visited the Teahouse and participated in the 2 hour workshop conducted by Charlene. It really was a wonderful 2 hours the highlight of the trip. We learnt so much about tea and enjoyed the food provided. The Teahouse also sells some lovely products . It is a must do when visiting Singapore.

The tea workshop was wonderful and was also very informative. Charlene let us have a go at making the tea ourselves, which convinced us to buy our own set. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Yixing Xuan is the perfect place to showcase Singapore. Unlike other tourist attractions that are homogeneous in nature (i.e. Singapore Flyer and the London Eye), Yixing Xuan brings out a perfect blend of Singapore culture infused with traditional chinese culture. Vincent, an absolute gentlemen speaks in crystal clear English and is entertaining and well versed with Chinese culture and tea.

You may ask, so why visit a tea shop in Singapore? For tourists, well this is not any ordinary tea shop like in other parts of the world where they pressure you to buy tea leave and come up with all sorts of promotional gimmicks to make you buy. Vincent, the boss of the shop, is clear, concise and gently persuades but never pressurizes you to buy the tea leaves. He is educated and brings in his knowledge that resonates with us. For example, he takes out newspaper articles from reputable newspapers to make his point clear instead of just bombarding us with "information" like other shops in other parts of the world. Vincent is a gentlemen, and that makes him special. You will learn from him, you will like him. Vincent is more like a friend, rather than a salesman.

For Singaporeans, this place is interesting as well. Forget about going to the usual starbucks to hang out with your friends. For a new place, I highly recommend Yixing Xuan Teahouse for a brand new atmosphere and hanging out place. Two people may share tea for $15 altogether. It may seem expensive prima facie, but you get a new atmosphere and the "gan jue" aka feeling is awesome because you feel renewed. You feel fresh. You feel your inspiration levels shoot to the roof. So not only tourists, but Singaporeans benefit as well. Oh yes, how often do you find a traditional tea house in Singapore? Rarely. So this is a really unique hang out place.

The food is also something to rave about. Yes, there are so many dim sum restaurants in Singapore. So why visit Yixing Xuan? Well, the food is really not bad! It's not super oily like other places. But that's not the crux as taste is subjective. The tipping point is Yixing Xuan provides excellent tea, excellent food and excellent service. The confluence of these three factors brings out the DNA of Yixing Xuan.

I highly recommend Yixing Xuan for tourists. Please, instead of visiting the zoo, or some night club, take a step back and visit this hidden treasure. You want to go back to your homeland with something different. A new perspective. A new place in Singapore that not many people have visited. You want to go back educated, informed and refreshed by tea. Wait no longer Yixing Xuan is the place to go.

You can spend easily 2 hours there if you sign up for the package with food. it's a tad pricey but it definitely more attractive than going to the club to dance.

Don't believe, just visit and you'll understand... This shop is small, yes, this shop has simple decor, yes. But, simplicity is beauty. Enough said, this place is recommended.

We tried several types of tea and they were all truly great. But what really made th experience spectacular was the owner's high level of knowledge & passion - He really explained the characteristics & history of each tea. Not only did we feel truly taken care of, but also highly enlighted on the art of tea. If I am to be picky, the only factor that could have improved our experience would have been a slightly more authentic or "traditional" interior. The plain white walls are not worthy such a increadible teahouse & its masterful owner!

Me and 3 of my colleagues attended the tea appreciation course. Honestly, I did not expect much as I could not see much fun in the tea. Well... I was terribly wrong.

Charlene is amazing and she really knows how to make people excited about tea. We had tons of questions which were all answered, had learned the entire process from tea growing, tea picking all the way into tea varieties and tea brewing. It completely changed my perception on how I view tea now (almost a tea snob)

The place is really cozy and as it is a family business it almost feels like you came for a visit (especially if you order food too - it is YUM!).
