Old Hindu temple of Singapore
Jan 2020
I stayed in Burgis and the temple was located very near my hostel so I set a plan to visit it. I've heard that it was one of the most beautiful Hindu temples in Singapore and the information was so right. Although it was an old temple, it looked so colorful and so new. Outside it was very beautiful because of its unique design. It was like a hidden gem hiding in Waterloo street. It was the only Hindu temple where I could get in, pray and take a look closer inside. The temple was totally quiet and peaceful

Sri Krishnan Temple Singapore
Nov 2019
Sri Krishnan Temple is Located in Waterloo Street Singapore (Bugis). Main God is Sri Krishnan and Rukumani Devi. Everyone walking thru Waterloo Street will be Stunned while seeing the Colorful Architecture works made in Krishnan Temple. After you enter into the Temple you feel Good and Peaceful, All Gods in the Temples are Very Colorful and Beautiful. As a Hindu I feel proud to see Lot of Chines Devotees doing their prayers everyday both inside the temple and outside the temple. Lot of Tourists also visiting the Temple every day. If you are in Singapore you must Visit Sri Krishnan Temple, You feel good and peace and you will also get Lord Krishna's blessing.

Beautifully Quiet

Walking along Waterloo Street, I passed many different churches, temples and synagogues. It must have been one of the highest concentrations in Singapore so i understood why it was nicknamed Church Street.

The design or appearances of those other places of worship were quite standard until I walked by Sri Krishnan. Outside was filled with people wandering through an outdoor market but the bright colors and intricate statues drew me inside. I remembered to remove my shoes before entering and had the entire temple practically to myself as I walked around. Just like the outside the inside was similarly ornate and enjoyable to view.

Sri Krishnan temple is in Waterloo temple in the Bugis region in singapore . Very close to national library . This temple was established in 1870 and one of the oldest temple in singapore and the only temple for lord Krishna in singapore . It has recently undergone extensive renovation . Temple is always glowing like gold and is well attended .

To look at only from the outside

I saw mostly groups of tourists with tour guides standing outside of the temple, sightseeing the place. Not possible to enter, but the entrance is videly open and it's possible to see ab interior very well. Similar to other Indian temples.

Amazing
Feb 2019 • Couples
There are many significant and beautiful churches, temples and mosques in Singapore, it’s one of the very special elements of the city state, but the Sri Krishnan Temple has to sit near the very top in my opinion.

As with most religious sites, everyone is welcome, provided you show respect.

The site and the current building have a storied past, not surprisingly, given Singapore’s own storied past with a shrine dedicated to Krishna being established here in 1870. The current temple had a major renovation in 2002.

The artwork, the attention to detail is truly something to see.

Well worth making the effort to visit.

Singapore = cultural diversity, and the great thing is all these cultures can be seen in a small area. Turn left on Waterloo street and you will first see a chinese Buddhist temple and then this Sri Krishnan temple, a fine example of South Indian temple architecture. Definitely worth a visit.
