Much like the iconic Istiqlal Mosque across the road, Jakarta Cathedral exemplifies Indonesia's inclusive attitude towards religious life. All are welcome here, even as it remains a regular place of worship for Jakarta's small but fervent Roman Catholic faithful. I would suggest visiting during mass, when you can experience a homily unchanged from when this cathedral was built, centuries ago.

Within the concentration of iconic landmarks in the middle of Jakarta, the Jakarta Cathedral is easily recognizable for its twin spires and elegant architecture. A very welcoming and peaceful serenity for a place of worship in midst of the bustling city. Notably known for its fine stonework and stained-glass windows, the nostalgic gem is not to be missed. We never missed visiting this cathedral. The view outside is very marvelous (got me goosebumps). You will like more the inside. The designs of the walls and ceiling are very intricate. The people we meet there are also very courteous. It was a good experience.

Really great place to visit, all the ornament still originals, what a good architecture. I attended the mass and the atmosphere makes you feels so devout, peaceful and nostalgic.

This was probably the best place I visited and really felt good after the visit. It's a beautiful structure and a lot of devotees attend the mass.

One of Jakarta must visit place. This church is legendary and notable for its architecture. Once you enter the place, you will feel a nostalgic and peaceful feeling. It could be frustrating to find parking space in Sunday though.

After visiting the Istiqlal Mosque, we crossed the street and visited this cathedral. A big arch covered with fresh white roses greeted us as we entered the church ( for a scheduled wedding later). We walked on the center aisle that appeared to be covered with white flower petals. Construction was going on during our visit. We said our prayers... More

An awesome heritage Catholic church that display wonderful exterior and interior architecture. Do the tour around the building and its interior for photos. Stand in front of The Grand Istiqlal Mosque. Both display the perfect harmony of religion living in Indonesia. ...
