Lamma Island

It's still a fairly undeveloped place by Hong Kong standards. Quite peaceful and tranquil. Hong Kong was once like this.

We took metro to central from North Point, bus to Stanley, did the market then bus to Repulse Bay, walked to Deep Water Bay, bus to Aberdeen. The ferry to Lamma (stay on to Sok Kwu Wan). Then walk on island and supper followed by ferry to central and metro back to hotel. Great day and travel cost <100 HH... More

Take the boat to Sok Kwu Wan (Picnic Bay), enjoy fresh seafood lunch, then walk it off with a hike across Lamma Island to Yung Shue Wan (Banyan Bay). Signs state the the hike takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. However, I did it in 1 hour 20 mins with plenty of stops for photos and a refreshing drink. The... More

A very nice hike around the island allows you to experience a side of Hong Kong that is absolutely different than the city.

We caught the ferry to Sok Kwu Wan and walked over to Yung Shue Wan. The walk took 1.5 hrs, it was fairly easy with a sealed path and great views on the way. We stopped for a drink of coconut water and frozen pineapple from a street cart and this was a welcome break at the halfway mark. We... More

30-40 minutes away by boat from central. nice half day walk. Avoid summer; too hot. Could spend the day including a nice seafood lunch in a local restaurant.

Take the ferry from Central or Aberdeen. Nice, but short boat ride. Good atmosphere on island - very laid back. Best to go during the week - much quieter. On weekends and in good weather, can be too many visitors. Check out many seafood restaurants in Yung Shue Wan.

Probably a must to visit as it is only 20 minutes by ferry. However, there are scruffy looking dogs lying around and dog-poo everywhere.

Lamma Island is a fun place to visit. There are two major piers in the island. Take a ferry for from the Central and you will be on the island in about 30-40 minutes. To hike from one pier to another, it will take you about 1.5 to 2 hours the most in a regular pace. In the summer time,... More

I took the ferry to Lamma Island to have lunch with my husband and it was not what I expected at all upon arriving. My cousins recommended going there, otherwise we would have never known that the island existed. We didn't explore too much since the restaurants were close to the ferry port, but since we went there solely to... More
