Scenic view

Riding along the coast is very scenic and truly once in a lifetime experience. You can take a bus, rent a car or take the gondola.

We went to a village and rented good bikes to stroll around the Tungchung area as guided by a local friend. It was fantastic to visit the old temple, fort, the public and private housing estate, the hidden path next to the big bridge. It really killed us for the four hour and it's worthwhile to explore hidden gems of... More

We decided to stop off in Hong Kong for a few days on the way to Vietnam, and one thing we really wanted to see was the big Buddha. As we were staying on Hong Kong Island, to get to the cable car base took a bit of walking and a couple of switches on the train, but it was... More

great place to be, especially when the weather in hong kong is cooler and one can enjoy the walk all the way to the big buddha. sculptures and carvings were amazingly intricate and oh, while you are there, don't forget to try the bean curd jelly near to the big buddha

participated on a lantau island tour with boat trip. didn't get to experience much. the coach journey was quite terrible as it's a hilly journey and would not recommend to people with travel sickness or small kids. went through the village and also took the boat trip. No luck on dolphins that day.

The island was so different from Hong Kong. Though not too far from the bustling city, Lantau is laid back. No high rises. Wonder if it could every become modernized?

This is where you find the Big Buddha. It's quiet and peaceful. Unlike the fast paced city. It's really a place where you can slow down your pace and find your inner peace. Great relaxation place to be in.

Certainly a stark contrast to the hectic pace in the city. Much quieter, with fantastic views and where you need to go to see Po Lin Monastery and the Giant Buddha. Unfortunately, the cable car was closed for maintenance when I visited, but this meant a nice drive up to the Monastery - if you are staying in Hong Kong... More

It was built and became part of the new hong kong airport. . The magnificent hanging bridge that connects mainland hong kong and Kowloon. So nice to pass by if your travelling by car or busses around going to your destination. Now a days Lantau island is a tourist attraction. Many hotels and apartment built as well as shops and... Lantau Island is where you need to get to to see the Big Buddha. Take the metro( heading for the airport I think) to the last stop and then a Cable car ride to get there. I would pay a little more for an express ticket. Worth every penny as you go straight to the front of the queue and... More
