Lantau Island is a island far from city center. The cable car is the most popular option to the island. The crystal car is slightly more expensive but the queue is 3 times shorter. Hence it is the preferred option if you don't want to...More

Lantau Island was the highlight of our Hong Kong trip. Nestled away from the city, close to the airport, the place offers breathtaking view of the mountains and small lakes. While it is buzzing with tourists but one can experience peacefulness.

So much to see. We visited during chinese new year preparations. Well worth the visit. Cable car ride over was amazing, but there are other options for those not fond of heights.

We went over to Lantau Island on the cable car. Unfortunately it was a freezing cold foggy day, so the views were poor. I would definitely recommend visiting the island by cable car but check the weather first and only go if it is clear.

Our experience of Lantau Island is the Ngong Pho 360 cable car ride to Big Buddha, Pho Lin monastery, Tai O fishing Village and Hong Kong Airport. On the island, you get to experience a more peaceful environment and more greenery. Don’t get put off...More

Stayed in Mui Wo for 5 weeks while visiting Hong Kong. Simply great, relaxing and cool! Only 30 minutes from Central by fast ferry yet quiet and easy going, great restaurants and bars. Nice folk, good supermarkets.

Take cable car from tung chung city to the Big Buddha. Than take shuttle bus to Tai O. A small sea side village.
