We were picked up from our hotel by bus then dropped off at ferry terminal and met our tour guide who told us to come back 15 min later when doors will opened and ignored us until we arrived at Lantau. We boarded another bus and drove to a beach for a happy place stop (toilet stop). Back on bus... More

Of course the airport is on this island but this island has a lot to offer. We went to a small village Mui Wo for a hike. And of course there is Disney too.

Tip: Start your day trip to Lantau quickly as the lines to the cable car are long. Also check if the cable car is closed for maintenance. A day trip to Lantau is fabulous and worth the visit. The Buddha shrine, the monastery are worth visiting.

Visiting by ferry was easy, catching the bus(gondola not working) to see the big Buddha was a little more challenging but not too difficult, well worth all the effort, need to allow at least half a day to have a good look around xxx

Unfortunately when we went the sky lift was under construction. We (luckily) found a driver to take us up. Regular taxis are not allowed so you have to find the BLUE taxis which are extremely hard to find and calling them is even more difficult. They basically just told us "NO". Anyways, once you are up there it's a completely... More

For authentic sight-seeing experiences, forget about Disneyland on Lantau. Go to the quieter parts. Just roam around and feel the relaxing air.

Went to see the giant Buddha very reasonably priced entrance cost with a free snack thrown in. The Buddha is an amazing sight a real must see. Went on to Disney Land, unfortunately space mountain was closed. To be fair it was a bit underwhelming having been to Paris but a laugh nevertheless. Over £200 entry for a family of... More

Lantau offers beaches, mountains, isolated walks surfing sunsets and sunrises. It is truly a microcosm - a separate permit is required to drive a motorized vehicle here, has its own distinct taxis and is an easily accessible relief from the buzz of Hong Kong Island and other hectic districts.
