From the stunning skyline to the spectacle of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong is full of world-class sights for travellers to see. But if you’re looking for fun – to add a little ‘do’ to your ‘see’ – then look no further than Happy Wednesday at Happy Valley Racecourse, the city’s trendiest headquarters for mouth-watering food, thirst-quenching beverages and thrilling excitement both on and off the track. There’s nothing quite like a night at the races in Hong Kong!

Week in and week out, Happy Wednesday fans are treated to a full sensory experience, pairing the pulse-pumping entertainment of jousting jockeys with a weekly theme that is integrated into everything from live bands and interactive games to on-course decorations and a delicious, reasonably priced trackside menu. Come in the fall and you’ll be treated to refreshing pints and a festive bratwurst for Oktoberfest – the largest outdoor beer festival in Hong Kong. Drop in during May, however, and it’s all ratatouille and brie, as Happy Wednesday hosts the hugely popular French Nights. It’s an extravaganza that’s fit for Asia’s world city, putting an international twist on a sport that has a rich heritage and cultural tradition for the city’s people.

There’s simply nowhere else in the world where you can experience such a seamless blend of racing and lifestyle in one event. Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just visiting Hong Kong, there’s truly something for everyone at Happy Wednesday!

I went to the Wednesday night races with a friend who is a local. The atmosphere is lively, there are all sorts of people there and there's a real buzz to the place and some great views, located as it is in the middle of Hong Kong. We had to have the betting system explained to us (some info on... More

Very interesting for people have never have chance to see horses. And it is a local culture experience that I will recommend tourists to visit and enjoy the game.

The oldest race course in Hong Kong, and China. Have a visit during race days. It shows the Chinese passion for gambling !

i went twice on the week days specified in the reviews. Neither of the days, i could watch the race. So, i just visited the museum attached to the racecourse, which is anyway worth visiting.

The first time we went to see horse racing |~quite a unique experience . However there was too many people and it was completely no place to take a rest, even I had to wait for over thirty minutes for WC.

A great night out, my parents had never been to racing before so we decided to give it a go. It was a great atmosphere and a bargain at 10HKD to get in which you can pay for on Octopus. We went in the normal stands which were perfect for what we wanted and there were lots of seats available.... More

city track, they run the crappy horses here, but its not about the quality of the races. . its in the city, its full of tourists, its a great vibe and great fun. An absolute must for anyone from out of town on a Wed night (sep-june)... cheap as chips to get in too.. no under 18s though.

This is a great place to go for a night out. It's a lot of fun to get into the gambling and the minimum bet is only $10 hkd, so there's fun to be had for everyone at any budget. Lots of drinks and food to be had, a great place to socialise and hang out with some friends whilst... More

Well first let bourse racing is not my type of thing. That said I must say that I really liked the atmosphere of the happy valley racecourse. The course takes 30000 spectators and that alone is rather spectacular. The easiest way to get there is by tram and if you live outside Hongkong if you bring your passport you can... More

I visited not on a race day, but still the views were stunning from outside. You can catch the Ding Ding Tramways from Central area and simply enjoy the views here. It is also very laid back here and definitely slower paced so if you're looking for a breather, this is the place for you. Enjoy!
