From the stunning skyline to the spectacle of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong is full of world-class sights for travellers to see. But if you’re looking for fun – to add a little ‘do’ to your ‘see’ – then look no further than Happy Wednesday at Happy Valley Racecourse, the city’s trendiest headquarters for mouth-watering food, thirst-quenching beverages and thrilling excitement both on and off the track. There’s nothing quite like a night at the races in Hong Kong!

Week in and week out, Happy Wednesday fans are treated to a full sensory experience, pairing the pulse-pumping entertainment of jousting jockeys with a weekly theme that is integrated into everything from live bands and interactive games to on-course decorations and a delicious, reasonably priced trackside menu. Come in the fall and you’ll be treated to refreshing pints and a festive bratwurst for Oktoberfest – the largest outdoor beer festival in Hong Kong. Drop in during May, however, and it’s all ratatouille and brie, as Happy Wednesday hosts the hugely popular French Nights. It’s an extravaganza that’s fit for Asia’s world city, putting an international twist on a sport that has a rich heritage and cultural tradition for the city’s people.

There’s simply nowhere else in the world where you can experience such a seamless blend of racing and lifestyle in one event. Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just visiting Hong Kong, there’s truly something for everyone at Happy Wednesday!

We were staying in Dorset hotel overlooking racecourse. Finished a day of sightseeing with evening at the racecourse. 10 dollar entry(about a pound). Nice free racecard with several snack outlets. Ended up with a Big Mac and chips! Big screens for viewing and plenty of helpful staff to take your bets. A tote system. Only picked one winner but heh... More

I went with the wife to Happy Wednesday, and had a really good evening. (Namely because the last race I backed a 40/1 winner). It's a good atmosphere, and a nice novel experience if you've never been to the races before. One note I would say is DON'T buy the 'tourist badge' which costs $130HKD. The live music, beer tents... We went to the regular Wednesday race. Entry was $10hk. By the time we got there it was very full. There was a mix of old and young, seasoned vets and newbies. I have to say I had little to no clue what to do as I have never done this before. It was a little difficult to get help... More

Experience the long old British traditions in HK & a great way to spend the evening as "Happy Wednesday" offer varieties of things to do apart from betting on ponies.

Went to a Wednesday night meeting and had a great time. We actually were given members passes but ended up spending all our time in the public area as there was much more going on. Entertainment between races, easy access to food and wine ( I think the marquees were because there was a wine promotion on ...not sure if... More

Booked via Splendid tours for an evening at Happy Valley race course in the Jockey Club box. Great night out. The tour picked us up from a hotel not far from where we were staying in Kowloon. The buffet was good with unlimited drinks. The wine was surprisingly good and the location overlooking the racecourse was very nice. This was... More

I didn't win a single bet and still had a good time! There is a great atmosphere here, just HK$10 to get in, plenty of entertainment between races, food and lots of drink options. There are people there to help you place bets, very patient and and helpful in helping the many complete amateurs like me! I've been horse racing... More

As a keen horse racing fan, on our holiday to HK, we decided to visit happy valley, and wow what an amazing place. 10HK$ to gain entry and beer is served by the jug! A great evening's entertainment!

Quite simply one of the best racecourses in the world. The sums punted are just off the chart and the locals are amazing and friendly. If you go on a Wednesday evening remember to arrange a car to take you back to your hotel because finding a taxi is difficult.
