I just stumbled over this place one evening I was in Hong Kong. It was pretty packed but I managed to somehow find a place by the bar. Good live music more on the rock'n roll side. Which I have been missing a lot since I moved to China in 2003. Good beers and drinks and the prices was actually... More

We stumbled on this little pub the first night in HK. It was packed. Great live music. Good selection of beers . A lot of British people.

Good bands, cover bands most of them, in a tiny and cosy atmosphere. Maybe the best rock scene of the island

This was probably my favorite bar in wan chai. Not quite the drink selection as most the other bars, but the atmosphere was great! Cozy little place and the best part was the live music! There was some great acoustic tunes followed by a band that played some good ol rock and roll. The wanch is a great little bar... More

It's one of the very few live music venues in the city and is pretty damn good. Drinks prices are not too bad for HK and it's a comfortable and atmospheric place. Definitely worth a visit, bands are on most nights of the week. If you like your music live you can't go past The Wanch.

Have always wanted to go to this place for some decent live music which is kind of quite "rare" in HK when compared to the "old days" where bands were very popular in bars in Wanchai and Tsim Sha Tsui. We went on a Sunday early evening at 7:00 pm and there was a 4-piece band playing Rod Stewart, Deep... More

This place is a fun way to kick off a night with friends. Itvattracts both an eclectic group of muscisians and an eclectic group of punters. It is `cozy` but you can spill out on to the street. Drink prices are reasonable.

For those with live music in their veins, the need to feel a beat and the energy even in a genre you might never 'buy', the sense of belonging with complete strangers, then The Wanch is for you. From the moment you step inside this small venue, the welcome of John and all his staff envelops you, at the same... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
