Located near a lake and a reservoir, this part of the Wall is called Yellow Flower Fortress and is a good place for hiking.Huanghuacheng Section of the Great Wall is a resort with mountains, lakes and theancient Great Wall. There are very few people to be found here, but it is becomingpopular with hikers. There is a lake and a crescent shaped reservoir nearby. And the lake breaks this sectionof the Great Wall into three segments naturally. Part of the wall is under water and becomes submerged at high tide. So the Huanghuacheng Great Wall is nicknamed "Water Great Wall".The scenery here is unique and will surprise you.

We went to the First peak before it headed to an area that was overgrown. It was really cold otherwise we would have climb that section as well. It took us approx 2.5 hours with lots of pics and fighting off the cold winds. It...More

A decent distance from Beijing, and lacking in the large tourist numbers as a result, a real bonus. Much of the section is unrestored, and more challenging as a result. There's some fantastic views along the way, and at about 12km, about right for a...More

This was my second trip to the great wall, and it was certainly an enjoyable portion since it is quite a distance from Beijing (over 2 hour drive) but it had very few people. The hiking can be a big strenuous, since this is a...More

Went to this part of the wall during a 12hr layover. Took around 2hrs from the airport. We arrived at 1600. There are some local farmers who take 5rmb to let you through. There’s 10min climb on some steps to the actual wall with a...More

I would definitely recommend visiting this part of the Great Wall because of how quiet it is. It is a bit far out and takes about an hour and a half to get to by car from Beijing central. It runs through private farm land...More

As tempting as it might be, if you are unfit and have some walking difficulties, give it a miss. The wall is very steep, and the steps are irregular ; most times of the day there are huge crowds ; and if the weather is...More

Went here during our tour of China. We should have visited a different site but is was closed for renovation. This site is a long ride from Beijing. Our ride was longer as the motorway was closed because of fog, necessitating a diversion. Over 3...More

Not realy. It's very far from HuangHua Cheng to MuTian Yu, the condition of the wall there is not good, it can take you about 10 hours easily, and the trail is dangerous. It's not recommended.
