Definitely a pleasure to see the Pandas at Beijing Zoo being cared for , and a definite attraction for Western visitors to the city. However , the condition of the other enclosures is very disappointing, and a distinct lack of animals visible here. The Pandas definitely have the tourist funds allocated to them.

We went all the way to Beijing Zoo to see the giant pandas! They're truly lazy carefree creatures, cute too. It was a good zoo, but we only visited the pandas so didn't visit other animals.

This is easy to access via Train and entrance fee is quiet Cheap. Beware of the Beggers when you buy your entrance ticket. Pandas were lifeless and there were very few animals. I found the zoo quiet depressing and the animals all look sad. Needs a lot of tender loving care. There is an aquarium inside the zoo - which... More

Of course you must see the pandas at the Beijing Zoo, however don't expect to see them enjoying life. They were stressed and panting and totally with any drinking water. This also applied to most of the animals we saw. Elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras the list goes on. None of the pools in their enclosures had water. All were empty.... More

If you are going for the parks and grounds it's worth a look around, but if you have any sympathy for animals you may as well avoid it. Very sad to see a grizzly bear pacing back and forth, African elephants that can only turn around in their enclosure and Asian elephants standing in one place and swaying their head... More

We went with a tour and we didn't had too much chance to explore the Zoo. We saw the Pandas and the were apparently on a good mood and gave us quite a show on their swing. We also went to see the monkeys, the birds and bear. We try to see the tiger but we didn't find any. Most... More

Went her as part off our organized tour. Found the pandas a little bit sad looking. But don't know that much about the animal so I can't say if its normal for them to look so sad & lazy. Found the zoo very clean & well maintained. Overall would have liked to been able to spend more time visiting.

I visited the zoo with my mother. We were able to see pandas, arctic foxes, lemurs and a whole lot more. It was a good zoo overall. The only downside were the pan handlers outside the zoo who were very aggressive. Some appeared to be quiet sick, possibly with leprosy, and would even reach out and touch you. The zoo... More

We wanted to see the pandas but were a bit undecided after reading reviews. Anyway, we went, Pandas seemed well looked after but every other animal looked desperately sad. We gave up after seeing a bear walking round and round in a concrete enclosure, and a polar bear without water in a glass fronted concrete hell. Would never visit again.
