This gate is the iconic symbol of modern China. With its imposing size and tight security, it is one of the finest monumental gates in the world. Ornamental column, stone lions and white marble bridges adorn the front. It is also the gateway into the Forbidden City.

I kept thinking on how much bad things happened in this place, so much history. Really cool place to see specially at night. Really crowded.

This is a must see spot, as you already know. I suggest that you take a few minutes during your visit and try to place yourself into those days of long ago...the emperor (and empress) lived here and ruled over a large section of China. The people would travel to seek his favor, and stay on the premise in order... More

This place was really beautiful and amazing which you can also see on TV. It was so huge and more spectacular. Always look so crowded and well maintained. Best to go at night when all light up, good for taking photos. Worth to visit.

I went daytime and nighttime and night is way better. The lights made a good contrast you can clearly see it with your bear eyes but you need a good camera to appreciate the effect

Right near Tiananmen Square, a must see in Beijing. IF you want to avoid crowds go when it's raining! Amazing architecture and mass of buildings another win for China's example of power and dedication.

We hired private guide to take us to the Gate of Heavenly and it was a unique experience. The culture and history of the place is impressive and the facilities are well maintained and in good condition.

This is almost like a movie set - large, colorful, huge portrait of Chairman Mao, security lines and lots of uniformed police and military. It is clearly a major site for the mostly Chinese visiting from all over China. It is a very special and very patriotic place for them to visit and you feel it as you wander around.... More

Again, this is a must visit place in Beijing, the public area is so vast. You must visit it in person to experience how big it is. Mindful of your surroundings, also take notes of the signs, don't break any law.
