This is perhaps one of the easiest access to the Great Wall. As expected, full of people, but still very enjoyable. Taking a cable car was a cheat. I bet, each season presents a new face of this heritage site.

divya j is wrong. if you can get a cell signal, or Wi-Fi, or Internet, it works most of the time. Facebook is indeed blocked. So is Gmail but every so often you can get through. Last month, we were in Beijing... More

There are no actual signs on the wall, at least I could not find it. The map is there in between and close to Badaling Wall entry point.

Planning to visit great wall with my wife and 2 & half year old son. How can we reach to Badaling great wall and come back from city using public transport? How much time it will take to go and the cost? I think cable car up and down is ok? Can I take toboggan ride with my kid for coming down? Thanks in advance for suggestion.

if you are coming from Beijing, you can take train line S2 from Huangtudian train station (near Huoying metro station) which is very cheap (RMB 6, for 1:15 hrs ride) and you can plan return same day. Make sure you pack your... More
