My friend and I went to Shichahai(什剎海)during Spring Festival. The water of the lakes was frozen and the lakes had become a skating rink. Different from the normal skating rinks, people liked to ride ice skating car there. Just like you ride a bicycle on the ground. It was a little pity that we did not try. We just stood... More

If you come to Beijing, Shichahai is a top place to visit. This winter, we went to ice skating there, very interesting and less crowded!

BEIJING SHICHAHAI We visited Beijing, capital of China for 7 days from 1st to 8th April, 2016. We selected Shichahai for our residence which is undoubtedly the best area of Beijing, oldest, central, historical, most scenic, cultural, best preserved and beautiful. The Municipal Government of Beijing declared this area as “Historical and Cultural Scenic District”. Building skyscrapers and high rise... More

We had been walking around the lake and then came across the Hutong. Leas touristy and more real than some other Hutongs, we had a great time wandering around and taking in experiences for all the senses.

We had a wonderful afternoon shipping on the lake with an elecric motor boat, walking along the seashore and enjoying dinner in a great restaurant. Although the pricing for the motor boat was with 260 RMB (about 70 USD) per hour was very high we did indeed enjoy the ride. We got a motor boat for 6 persons and shipped... More

This resort is part of the Hutong area with all the bars restaurants that are scattered around the lake, it's a nice area to walk around with a good walking track also you can cycle around as well. I would recommend a visit here.

We spent an evening here walking around the lake, listening to the live music and eating and had a great time. It's situated around a lake to the North West of the Forbidden City and is basically lots and lots of restaurants and bars, most of which have a live music act. We went on the Friday night and it... It was dusk when our tour bus pulled up here for us to take a brief stroll. I was immediately captivated by the colourful neon lights . The whole place looked so pretty and Christmassy - there were lights on the big archway, the willow trees and on all the buildings around the lake : the light reflections in the... More

Just stumbled on this place but spent quite some time walking around. Lots of bars and restaurants and plenty of people around. Quite picturesque.
