A must see if you're an aviation/military history fan. Situated in the north west suburbs of the city area it's difficult, though not impossible, to get with public busses. That said a private car makes it so much easier. A former Cold War era air...More

Located in Changping district in the very north of Beijing, this is NOT one of the most convenient places to be especially when you want to check out the old-fashioned planes from China. It showed the progress of how our Chinese airplane industry has transformed...More

Great collection of aircraft, most normally not found in Western museums. Also good History of China aviation, Aircraft manufacturing, engine / turbine development and techno/strategic relations with Russia. Some information available in English text, however without a Chinese speak fried or guide one would not...More

To get there: I followed the excellent directions given in LaoBeijing's review. I nearly missed the stop on the 945 bus - it is the first one after you cross Ring Road 6, about 1 km later, marked by a brown column on the left....More

If you've ever wondered where Chinese MIGs go to rest in peace, this is the place! I've never seen so many 1960s MIGs in one place! The planes outdoors are not in good shape, but some are unique samples on display. The indoor pavilions, while...More

This Feb, was the third time, my son and I visited this museum. First was in 2009, then in 2011. The museum itself hasn't changed at all. Only thing different is it has become way more convenient to get there, thanks to the reliable Beijing...More

Interesting museum, especially if you are into technological stuff. They have more than 100 airplanes, for passengers and also army planes and helicopters. The museum is pretty big, but I wouldn't reccomend hiring the electric cart, because it's better to just walk around all the planes....More

This is a cool visit if you are into aviation, however it is a bit of a drive from the city center. I would recommend visiting if you are already in the area while going to see the Ming Tombs.

Being an aircraft enthusiast I have always had my eye on this museum and I finally had the opportunity to visit this unique place. There are over 200 aircraft in this museum, many of which are unique to this collection. As well as seeing the...More

Lots of walking but also lots to see. Some of the plains are starting to show wear and tear for being outside but others inside look great.

Cannot see what the opening hours are? Anybody visited the museum using taxis from nearest station? Is it possible to get a taxi for the return trip?

All days, from 9:00 to 18:00 hrs, except in winters when it opens from 9:30 to 17:00 hrs. It's easy to get a cab for the return trip, since a lot of taxi drivers used to wait outside the parking station for new customers.
