Fun on a weekend

Its a good thing to take a break from regular tourist activities like palaces and museums. This area had a soho type feel and my kids almost felt they were in downtown Chicago.

so much to see here. Once you get to the subway stop it is still a bit of a walk - might want to get directions from subway stop. Plan on more time than you think

The most artsy-fatsy place of this scale I've been to! Tons of places to look at, tons of spots to take shots, tons of unique shophouses/cafes. It is quite interesting that they build this area around an industrial spot, so you'll see some factories and steel pipes running all over the place. There are many art sculptures, painted walls, rusty... More

Do not go to Beijing without visiting this contemporary art zone. It is fabulous. You do not even have to like modern Chinese art, you will find something that suits your mind anyhow. Nice bars and restaurants, as well.

This is a place art lovers should visit. Spend some time to walk around the vast area of unused factories turned art galleries with quirky sculptures in the open air spaces. There are some nice cafes and bars here as well.

We stumbled on 798 and the deeper we went into the art zone the more intriguing it was... a large variety of artists had work on display - from the quirky to traditional. Some of the outside sculptures were stunning. Definitely worth a wander around for an hour or two.

Leave yourself plenty of time to explore this area. So many little venues that are all different and exciting. Great coffee and snack shops. If you enjoy art spend a day or more and you wont be disappointed.

This is a must see for lovers of modern art. We enjoyed strolling around the area looking at the outdoor art, There is so much to see and so many different types of art to enjoy, some of which are rather unique.
