This could easily be just a short trip of an hour, but we happened to go when there was the gala opening at the art museum housed in one of the guard towers on top of the wall. You pay to climb onto the wall (20 RMB), which offers cool views of the city. There is a nice cafe/restaurant at... More

Park is near the Beijing Railway Station and adjacent to the hotel I stayed. Beautifully well-maintained grounds. Very peaceful, especially considering you're right near the highway. The watchtower is at the end of the park and only cost 10yuan to visit. The park runs along the remaining section on the old city wall. Not much to see and wouldn't recommend... More

About 800 meters West of the Beijing Railway Station (at the 1st major intersection) is the entrance to the park. There is a relief mural showing the area in Ming times - this Watch Tower and Gate were the main terminus of supplies coming through the Grand Canal to supply Peking. The park is beautifully kept and continues on the... More

It's directly accessible from exit B of the Chongwenmen metro station on line 2 or 5. From here, you'll be on the west end of the park. Continue east along the length of the 1.5 km section of wall to the Chongwenmen Gate. It's the only remaining section of wall from the Ming dynasty and used to form the inner... More

Walk here and feel a sense of history and escape. The view is nice, the trees and sitting spaces just outside the walls give you chance to rest and take it all in.

We had to wait a while before being allowed to go in and were given instructions not to take photographs there. We climbed up to see the restored tower and saw some relics.

This is avery quiet area so a must see. The wall has been restored along with the watch tower. In fact you can still see pat of the wall flow into the horizon from one perspective. The watch tower has an art gallery in it on certain days, always interesting to see art in form.

There is a restored tower at one end of this you will start or end there. I din't see many plaques to explain anything but, it is a wall and that is the main thing here

If you are in the area this is a nice green space near the Beijing railway station, lots of locals excising and a dog walking area. It is a nice place with some history and if in the area a worthwhile visit.

We were staying near Chongwenmen and took the opportunity to visit the old city walls. They are not significant as most have been demolished to make way for roads and other developments in the 1960's. What does remain however are contained in a lovely strip of green parkland. Worthwhile for a stroll if you are in the area.
