What a view, what a construction, the massive size, the 6.000 Km of an stunning wall, the architecture, the challenge, the accomplishment of being on a place that can be seen from space, climbing those irregular steps and arriving to the top!

We visit the Great Wall on our trip to China. it was our 1st stop on our 21 day trip. It was the greatest experience of a life time. It is not to be missed, as a 65 year old not very fit lady I didn't think I would ever be able to do this but was determined to do... More

The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone and other materials built along an East to West direction. Originally conceived by Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the third century B.C. as a means of preventing incursions from nomads. It was never effective. But it is one of the most extensive construction projects ever. The best... More

Probably is the best passage of the Great Wall in Beijing, but little bit dangerous for kids or acrophobes. Best season is May or October.

We visited the Great Wall on our trip in Asia and it was amazing. The history was spectacular and we had a guide who was passionate and informative. Highly recommended.

Half way to Badaling, went there on a bright cloudless sunny, smogless November Day. Was a bit breezy and cold but otherwise was fantastic day to see the Wall. Climbed the lesser of the Walls and was treated with an ice cream at the top. Hardly a soul on the wall.

We used Great Wall Adventures to hike 8 miles along the Great Wall, starting in Jiankou. Not for the unfit! This was a most challenging hike, and well worth it for the views and culture. Be sure your shoes or boots are well broken-in. We hiked all the way to Mutianyu and took the toboggan down to the base of... More

My fiancé and I wanted to hike the Great Wall and wanted to see it in it's unrestored state: Jiankou is where to start off. We hired John with HereisBeijing.com and he dropped us off at the bottom of the mountain. With this hike, we started here and finished at Mutianyu. This allowed us to see both the unrestored wall...
