This place is magnificent. Stunning views to Uganda and just so beautiful. You tend not to see as much game here because of the rain forest setting and we did not not see elephants on this occasion. Colubus monkies are common and there are many types of antelope, Subsequently discovered you can actually stay overnight in the reserve and that... More

We spent 3 nights in the self catered bandas in the middle of the park. The little cottages came well equipped, with most kitchen utensils available and a hot shower. Minus towels. We did a short hike, visited some of the bat caves, and did a longer hike to the summit. The views were spectacular. The summit hike was especially... More

The walk starts right from the Chorlim Gate, the drive from Kitale using the short route is about 30-45min drive. First night is in Mutamaiyo campsite, then proceed to Road End Camp which is normally take 4-5 hours. Summit the following morning walking for about 3-4 hours to get to the top Koitobos (summit) 4km, this normally takes like 3hrs... More

We were there over one day and that was truly not enough. No tourists and a awesome guide who really made the day. If you also like walking and peaceful nature this place is perfect :)

Wonderful views & beautiful scenery!! Come prepared as the weather can change quickly. Waterproofs are a must! The hike to Koitobos peak is really worth doing & guides are available at the gate entrance. (3,000/- ksh) You need a guide. We didn't see anyone during our walks & the path is not obvious especially as the mist drops. It's quite... More

This national park is one of the best in Kenya according to me. I can only dream of coming back and making a hike of several days. Though lots of things can be seen in a full day walking. A trip to the top of a bluff and the two most famous caves are definitely worth the visit for one... More

Did a 4-day hike from Budadiri to the top and back to the Sipi Falls. In short, the hike itself is beautiful. You walk through the 4 zones (farms, rain forest, bamboo forest, highlands) which is absolutely wonderful and unique considering that there's barely anyone else on the mountain (I was the only one on the mountain on my first... $30 entry for foreigners, $12 for the vehicle and $35 for the guide. Not a real cheap day but very enjoyable. The guide is available at the gate and is a park ranger. This means you are safe, you know where to go and you have a source of knowledge as well. We saw bush buck, baboons, colobus and blue... More

A couple of days R&R after some voluntary work with churches, schools and an orphanage found us having a day trip to Mt Elgon National Park. It was Saturday in August, which at home would mean hordes of people: we didn't see anyone. Set off from Kitale at 7.15 a.m. - it's not a fast journey, much of it on... More

As we had problems with the car; we hired one of the KWS 4wd cars with driver to take us up to the caves. Which in retrospect was a very good thing, because the car we had taken would have gotten stuck on the way. I would recommend people to only attempt going up when you have a 4wd. We... More
