Avenue of the Sphinxes is really great as it used to link Luxor Temple with Karnak Temple. Today only a portion of the path is available but they are working to complete the whole way. If you have the chance, go to the avenue also at night as it has beautiful illumination!.

Looking out from Luxor Temple entrance you can see the Avenue with the portion that has ben excavated and reclaimed some time ago. They need to better maintain the grounds as well as... More

I was told that the avenue of Sphinxes was some two miles long and linked Luxor and Karnak temples. Which is impressive to say the least, the avenue was lost over many years and now slowly being reconstructed. At one time there were over three hundred statues so far sixty odd have been replaced some badly damaged through time.

Really impressive to walk among all the sphinxes, there are so many of them. I did it twice! Take your time to appreciate the subtle differences of each statue.

Very much worth a visit if you like your history. Standing structures and statues with loads of engraving. .. excellent visit but hot in afternoon 38° no pools to cool off so make sure you cover up.
