If this is your only opportunity to take a felucca ride on the Nile, plan your visit to Banana Island so that you can see the sun setting on your return visit. It was a lovely experience being in a private boat- with our guide to the island. In the end, having a guide with you is not necessary. The... More

Ride on the Felucca on the Nile and reach this Island. This is famous for its bananas and oher fruit trees. Saw oranges, papaya trees and host of banana trees with different stages of fruit. The banana here tastes good. U might be asked to pay a certain entry fee per person to enjoy. No ticket but just as tip... More

Not much to see. We went after visiting luxor museum and paid 50LE for two people. There were only two of us plus two local guide. This excludes 10LE per pax entrance fee. They tried to say it's 20 per pax twice but fortunately someone told us it is only 10 each. Be careful. We then spent some time drinking... More

The felucca ride was extremely nice, but the island itself very unimpressive. They have a crocodile in a small cage, looks like it is suffering :/

Don't do go. The river trip, either by foloka or the motorized boat is worth every penny, however, the island is not. One senile crocodile, few snakes and nothing else to see.

If you take a felucca trip on the Nile this is where they will probably take you and you will wonder what on earth for. The October review by the alleged "single woman" from Connecticut is a fabrication. The place is little more than a banana plantation which is currently under construction to extend the restaurant. The entrance fee allows... More

If you have kids with you who are "templed out," this can be a nice diversion for a couple hours. You can walk around the banana trees and stop at the restaurant for a drink or a snack. The tiny enclosures for the crocodile and the foxes are sad to see, though. And a little time on a boat on... More

Banana Island is a plantation of banana trees with a restaurant front end. Very little to see apart from a small crocodile and some starving coyotes in cages that are too small for them. Although Banana Island touts itself as a nature area, I would avoid any place that displays such complete disregard for animal welfare. One would at least... More

My opinion is that it's certainly not a "number 1" destination in Luxor and you can avoid felluca to go there. Banana island is a place where you can visit a plantation of banana trees. It's a nice piece of egyptian countryside that you can do only if you have some spare time in Luxor after all the visits you... More
