Excellent small museum crammed with Nubian history. Animals, rocks, plants , way of life and effects of high dam all covered. We stayed for lunch on the rooftop terrace and we're shown the accomadation, which was very clean and a great price of $10USD, we would have stayed there if we weren't already settled elsewhere on the island.

Great small museum were Muhammed the owner and your guide will explain modern Nubian history and geology of the region. It is a tiny museum that has a great operator that will give a great amount of information for your time and money. Stop by for a non traditional museum experience.

Animalia is a little gem. It's a one-person museum that covers flora, fauna, history, sociology, geology and more about Nubia. "Mr. Muhammad" as our guide calls him, is one of the warmest people we met in Egypt, and very knowledgeable. He spent about an hour teaching the two of us about the Nubian culture. We toured the rooms upstairs where... More

This private Nubian house has been dedicated to the creation of an excellent Nubian museum. The owner and his wife made us very welcome, and our visit was enhanced by his detailed explanations of the many artifacts he has spent years collecting, as well as a cup of tea at the end. All this for just 20 Egyptian pounds (about... More

You will get a better understanding of just how much life has NOT changed in these Nubian villages. Despite it's size, this is a first rate museum. The lack of signage is more than compensated by the personal tour. The 20 EL fee is much too small. Please support Animalia.

I think the point of traveling to to Nubia is to see the Nubian people. What better way to get to see the Nubian culture, than through the eyes of a Nubian? Mohammed is a gracious and knowledgable host. He is an elder in the Nubian community and presents a way of life that you will not get at the... More
