Amazing Mastaba of Ka-GMNI, who was appointed to the rank Chief Justice in the old kingdom. This Mastaba (Tomb) and others in Sakkara has lots of similarities. This site is worth visiting and exploring, especially watching the professional carvings on the walls with too many stories behind and the long lasting colors of it. I highly recommend.

Outstanding hieroglyphs inside the tombs. It's a must see in Sakkara area. The coloring on the wall is some of the best in Northern Egypt

Kagemni was the overseer of the prophets and the estate of Teti's pyramid. He was also married to the daughter of Pharaoh Teti, Nebti-nubkhet. His mastaba can be compared to Mereruka's, but it is smaller and the present condition of the wall decorations are worse. But the reliefs of birds and animals are among the finest you can find from... More

One of the more popular Mastaba tombs in Saqqara is the Tomb of Mereruka, the son-in-law of Teti whose damaged pyramid is nearby. Unfortunately, the Mastaba Tomb of Mereruka is closed for restoration, so our guide took us to the tomb next door. This mastaba tomb is where Ka-Gmni, the high priest of Teti is buried. No photos are allowed... More

All of the tombs here are hard to keep separate in your head and photos. All of them are worth seeing and photographing. The hieroglyphs are awesome and some are funny. I keep finding some that look like Obama. Enjoy!!!

This mastaba is treated in the guidebooks as "non existent" or not very interesting... I love this mastaba, starting with its name... you enter this tomb... do not forget to haver a look to the dancers just after you entered in the first room. Than continue to go along the wall, still in the first room, to see the bas-reliefs... More

While the Tomb of Ti may have a slight edge, the reliefs in Kagemni's tomb are still pretty amazing, showing scenes of hippo hunting, girls dancing, scribes accounting, and always offerings being presented to Mr. Kagemni himself. The quality of the raised relief is wonderful - note also the later additions to the decor, where the nameless figures of offering... More

Very well preserved wall paintings and carvings, colorful, vivid and lots of funny scenes: crocodile – hippopotamus duels, ballet – dancers (maybe this is the first kan-kan illustration?); fine details of animals, like frog, dragonfly, cricket. All fishes can be identified and flowers as well. Take your time to enjoy all the details, everything such alive! We spent almost 1... More
