The Sakkara Pyramids are much less well known, and visited, than the pyramids of Gizza, but they are worth a visit. They are older and stepped and can be seen in the distance from the site of their more famous counterparts. It will take about 20-30 minutes by car to get to them from Gizza. They are more "deserted" and... More

Please be aware there is endless restoration works at this pyramid. However this did not cause us any real problems and this is an impressive sight with significant other buildings sets this pyramid apart from those that stand alone. We very much liked this location.

So many people go to Saqqara and miss really important bits. Yes, there is the Step Pyramid which is the oldest pyramid and the originating idea. Unfortunately you can't go in because of its fragile nature but the inside is the epitome of the inside of a pyramid with hidden chambers and endless corridors, unlike the Giza pyramids. But you... Another landmark to not miss. But go to the museum also has it has interesting artifacts, including the "famine" images, so easily recognizable after all these centuries

Lovely being back after 39 years and so impressive, my husband was thrilled. Hope no more buildings creeping closer as 39 years ago it was Nicer.

Really glad we went here and viewed the temple. It is quite impressive grounds and buildings. The tombs are wonderful. We did not know about the extra tickets and we would have bought them - if we knew. Could have spend more time here - one place i would return.

These Pyramids are much older. Have Plenty of small change for tips.. Less hassle here. We had sandstorms when we visited, the guide then decided to get out of the sandstorms and took us down inside the Tombs.. Lots and Lots of Litter - I don't think this is the place tourists go. as he needed a torch.. it was... More

I like it here better than giza as they are cleaner n calmer. Knowing the history of it makes me appreciate its existence more. We can see the great pyramid afar from here. I like the column the most, cool stuff.

Not good if you have trouble walking/getting about. Splendid monument to the ancient past. We went as part of coach party and did feel safer as a result. Huge area to explore and apart from locals pestering for baksheesh, you feel unhurried and inspired.
