I was told this is the oldest manmade structure in the world. You can't go in -- there is no inside, but standing beside it gives an out-of-this world sense. It's worth the drive, and what you'll see on the way is more than worth...More

The pyramids themselves are nothing special. But go down into the one that looks like a sand and rock pile. The drawings/carvings on the walls are over 4000 years old and are in fantastic conditions——much better than those at Giza pyramids.

It was a great experience to be here and see this. It is actually currently under construction but it is still beautiful to see.

I have always wanted to see the Pyramids at Saqqara. I was so excited when my guide Laila took us there. I had no idea just how fascinating it would be. I am so happy I was able to see it!

The oldest pyramid in the nearby area of Cairo and very impressive. Not too big if one compares to Giza or Dahssur pyramids but still very pretty and definitely worth visiting. Remember to avoid the “welcoming” beggars and even police (don’t want to explain more...More

Don’t miss the original pyramid. The tombs have exquisite art showing everyday life thousands of years ago. Truly beautiful

We went to Saqqarah with a driver but without a guide and it was fine. This site is one of the most ancient in known history, much older than the pyramids at Giza. It is a site that is less popular than Giza but we...More

The Giza great pyramids are not the only pyramids in Egypt. These pyramids are not that grand but the tombs are wonderful. Be prepared for the vendors to hit you hard. Just be kind, enjoy your visit, and understand that if you engage them they...More

Pyramid in Sakkara is the oldest pyramid in Egypt. It was built by the ruler Djoser and was also buried here. The pyramid is stepped, reminiscent of the pyramids in America.

They are close enough so that you can do both on the same day, but the street market and museum would be more interesting than Sakkara. Sakkara has the oldest pyramid but currently it is being repaired. You could... More
