My head is swirling with fabulous images of desert nights under the stars with Bedouins dancing and playing music, boat rides crossing the Nile at morning and twilight, Nubians cooking us fresh fish BBQ under the stars, visiting and observing a camel market in Rawar where Sudanese bring their camels to barter and sell…Viewing the pyramids in subdued, earthy colors from our hotel balcony, we could almost touch them…So many colorful temples, tombs and museums! We have Mona Gomaa to thank for making this an incredible journey throughout Egypt. Mona Gomaa, (Egyptologist, who is continually studying and researching to advance her education in Egyptian history,) is the person to contact whether you’re in Cairo or visiting the whole country. She helped in planning, arranging, sightseeing, drivers, transportation, guides, etc. throughout from Alexandria to Abu Simbel to the Red Sea. If you’re an independent traveler, or in my case, with a friend, I would highly recommend Mona to help plan your trip or collaborate with her on hotels, sights to visit, etc. She takes good care of you throughout your journey, always available by phone for answering questions or with any concerns. I have traveled the world, am in my 70’s, and this three week Egyptian experience has been one of the highlights of my life! Thank you, Mona. Our family loved having Sahem as our guide - she was knowledgable, flexible and kind. She made our day be exactly what we wanted, spending more or less time at each spot based on our level of interest. She was very patient and involved our kids (12 & 10) as much as they wanted while understanding their limits. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing Cairo/Luxor experience with Mona. I am NOT a tour guide guy but have traveled the world. After 2 days with Mona, an unparalleled Egyptologist, I can only say that perhaps the last 25 years of travel have not been as rewarding as they could have been. But quite candidly, there is NO WAY that all tour guides around the world can hold themselves to the standard that Mona has established. Knowledgeable. Honest. Candid. Affable. Humble. Confident. Confident. Confident. Transparent. Forthright. Adaptable. Mona quickly sized me up for my adult ADHD and tailored her presentations as such. In brief, we did the Great Pyramids, including the Sphinx. Papyrus store where there was ZERO pressure to purchase anything and then onto a jewelry store only because we asked such that we could get our daughter a cartouche. Mona made sure to take us to an honest store where there again would be no pressure and no haggling. Onto Sakkara which was my favorite part of the day. Do not skip this. That completed our first day. Day two started at the Egyptian Museum where Mona tailored our visit perfectly, orchestrating us though a methodical approach such that we covered the important parts of the museum again, being mindful of my attention span. After the museum perhaps came our favorite part of the two day journey. A stop at Coptic Cairo followed by Islamic Cairo including Khan El-Khalili. Mona weaved us in and out of the market with a delightful stop for tea with some locals. Again, Mona exudes confidence as she takes no nonsense from anyone. Everything was well planned and well thought out. No question was made to feel silly or left unanswered. Of course, it goes without saying that the little things were tended to as well. Water. Bathrooms. A great driver who never kept us waiting and maneuvered through the insanity that is Cairo traffic. In summary, quite simply, stop looking for a guide and cross your fingers that Mona is available for your travel dates. And if she is not? Strongly consider changing your dates.

4 day tour of Cairo and vicinity - visiting all the must see sights. Private tour was selected over that of a multi-person tour group that herds the group from one sight to another with barely enough time to appreciate what one is viewing. We contacted Mona Gomaa for 4 day tour - and based on her immediate response and suggested itinerary felt Mona would be the best guide for our time in Cairo. We have utilized private guides and Mona would rank as one of the best. She develops a genuine rapport with her clients that adds to the touring experience. When we return to Egypt we would want Mona to be our tour guide.

I contacted Mona after doing some research on TripAdvisor. It was a last minute request so Mona was not available but she gave us an option to hire Amira's services. I am glad i had a such a great guide who organised our day and half in the most productive way. We arrived in Cairo on Friday afternoon and at 6pm we had our guide (Amira) in the hotel reception waiting for us. I must say the our guide was very punctual, personable and very friendly. We had Nile cruise with dinner and a show. As we were three families, we had small kids too but Amira was very accommodating and helping us meet our demands. The cruise was roughly 2.5 hours but the time spent was well worth it. The next day we had a full on day to visit Pyramids, The Sphinx, the Museum and Khan Khalili (shopping). I must say we had such a great time - again I saw no sign of any impatience and everything was done at a pace which was manageable with small kids. Amira also went out of the way to order food for us to help have dinner and stopping on the way to accommodate individual request. Amira also helped our wives during the shopping taking us to authentic shops to buy Papyrus and Fragrance shop. Amira also conducted a quick to help us refresh the knowledge we gained during our visit to historic and monumental places. In the nutshell, we all thoroughly enjoyed our trip saving us from tourist traps.
