Not a zoo fan if it’s not for conservation but felt the need to visit a zoo in SEA. If you’re easily upset by seeing animals in horrid conditions then please don’t go. I had tears in my eyes pretty much all the way around....More

Terrible place, where the animals are kept in tiny enclosures. Most of them in individual closures so that the animals never have contact with any other animals. Most of the animals looked in bad condition and it broke my heart walking round. Subsequently I never...More

Yangon Zoo is located in the middle of the city surrounded by the greens of Kandawgyi Lake. They do have quite a number of animals here BUT the condition of the zoo is average at best and the animals look lethargic and hungry too. More...More

I admit, I like zoos, although I always feel a little guilty because well, it’s a zoo, and intellectually I know that zoos aren’t ethical, but damnit, I like zoos. I’ve been to several zoos in various countries, and some were excellent (Prague), and some...More

The zoo is not far from the Aung San Museum. It is well kept and there are many food and snack places inside the zoo.

Yes, there are animals in cages and pens, but it's a zoo. Very old site and needs maintenance, but animals seemed to be well looked after and it was quite clean/free of rubbish. Entry was 3,000 kyat.

Three hours is more than enough to explore what the zoo offers; as such, you may not even need to pack any food, especially if you make it a point to grab a bite before heading over. I don't remember seeing anything... More
