Visited Botahtaung Pagoda during the last week of Oct 2017 and it was definitely worth the visit. Lots to see and plenty of photo ops. As already mentioned several times, it's best to go earlier in the day to avoid walking on VERY hot tiles....More

I went in the late afternoon and it was a nice temple, the golden interior (near the entrance) is the highlight of this temple, especially if you've been to other temples in Myanmar. There's also a lovely little fountain and bridge towards the left upon...More

We visited on a public holiday when the place was full of locals having picnics outside. Inside visitors are guided clockwise round a star-shaped route. The small market outside is worth visiting too.

The Stupa isn't that spectacular, but the inner section is like star and everything is gold pladed. The locals woreship this sanctuary and it is amazing. We arrived in the end of the afternoon and the setting sun gave it a beautiful glow.

In a country of amazing pagodas, this one is more along the lines of a nice, local workaday temple. If you go, look for the gold-covered “maze” near the entrance. Not a must-see attraction but provides an interesting contrast to the spectacular Swedagon pagoda

but we hired a taxi so we could see it and the big reclining Buddha in one drive. This one was interestng because the base was not solid, but had a corridor maze with walls covered in gold leaf (and plexiglass). Interesting for that part

A little different from some of the others with a maze type of setup inside. Many things to look at for the tourist entrance price and shops across the road too. Well worth an hour.
