My partner and I spent our day snorkelling here and it was quite lovely. However if you swam as far out as we did at that time of the year, just be really careful since the coral does get pretty close when the water gets shallow. Lovely chill spot and great curry too!

Took a taxi from Port Vila for 200 vatu, and then taken by a free ferry across to the island. Entry fee was 1250 vatu, which may seem a little hefty, but well worth if you spend the whole afternoon relaxing in the sun and swimming in the beautiful water. Though there's only dead coral in the 'beach' (no sand),... More

This was the best snorkelling in Vanatu quick drive and short boat ride to the island the fish you will see is amazing and what is also good is that the island is replanting coral so it is getting better each year more places like fiji should be thiking about replanting coral like vanuatu are doing.

The beach is all dead coral and no sand. I didn't see much snorkeling and found it all overpriced. 1250 vuv per person to enter the island and 600 vuv pp to rent snorkel gear.

Beautiful fish so make sure you bring your snorkel gear (they hire to)... coral is a bit rough on the feet so reef shoes are great. yummy lunch, the beautiful staff brought us out a fruit platter after which was lovely. One of the must do's when visiting Vanuatu.

Went there for a day trip but disappointed by the black sand. No shelter which made it very hot to bare.

This is a terrific venue to snorkel and see a huge variety of fish and coral, which is close to shore. There are also pontoons to rest on. the beach is mostly coral so take reef shoes. The only disappointment is the entry fee does not become a voucher for food or drinks like a lot of other islands. We went... More

A definitely must do on a visit to Efate...bring your own snorkel gear and enjoy the underwater garden. The beach bar serves delicious burgers, Vanuatu meat is top notch.

I have been a regular visitor to Hideaway Island over the past couple of years. My last visit was very disappointing as a lot of the coral has died in the past 12 months and nowhere near as much colour. There are still fish around and it is always fun to post a letter from the Underwater Post Office. Its... More
