Traveled to Honiara, Solomon Islands in September 2017 and were struggling to find any information about tours and places to go. I read about Bonegi Beach, often spelt Mbonege, and the ship wrecks there but were unable to find recent reviews. In the end decided...More

The land is owned by families and there is a fee for going on to the beach. Be wary and don't overpay. We got our room maids brother to show us around. We felt safe while with him and he took us to various places.

Took a bus from Honiara and got there in less than 30min. An option is to take a taxi. Once you get there, there will be a man asking for the entrance fee of 10 Solomon dollars per person. You get to the beach and...More

I recently visited the Mbonege beach on a private tour. I decided not to snorkel, but looked at the wreck on the beach while my guide was explaining what had happened to this Japanese ship. There are a few seats and tables on the beach,...More

30min in a taxi from central Honiara, we were the only people on Mbonege beach which is a beautiful long sandy beach. The wreck is amazing, lying so close to the shore, with really interesting mixture of colourful corals and lots of beautiful fish. Quite...More

Wow, what a place. It was filled with the locals with picnic food. Then swimming around the wreck is amazing. It's just a few meters away from the shore and the fish you can see are fantastic. It's $40 per car to access the beach...More

There are not a lot of tourists in Guadalcanal. So the few that there are spread out and you hardly ever see anyone. The same can be said for this beach. Although it is hyped, there is often no one there. There are also no...More

The sea lice were terrible the water was murky and the place was rather boring. There was nothing to do there other than sit around and get bitten by ants.

We were with a paid guide so didn't get charged for entry. Nice beach. The wreck is close to the beach and easy to snorkel. Didn't spend more than 15 minutes in the water. Quite rough and poor clarity unfortunatley.
