We had low expectations after reading other reviews, but wanted to walk around between our excursion and re boarding our cruise so we walked here and around town. The square is big, and has lots of nice palm trees and a fountain, but it looked a little tired, to be honest.

This area was on the tour brochure as recommended for sitting quietly in the shade, watching the local colour. All that was locally colourful was the graffiti.

This is the heart of Noumea but I am afraid it really needs some tlc. A little run down and although nice to walk through, there are so many better places to visit. You will see locals and there are some nice cafes around. Pity so much graffiti which spoils which could be a lovely park.

For such a central important part of the city, this park is quite run down. Dying lawn, messy seating area. Nice trees and the atmosphere is nice with the locals playing chess and relaxing. The city just needs to take more pride here.

A quiet place to enjoy the shade and the comoany if locals. There are quite a few cafes around the park and there is always a game of chess underway.

This is a very pleasant park in the heart of the city. It offers welcome shade in the tropical heat.

The city of Noumea has evolved after a few years and became like any other city a concrete jungle. Lucky for it's inhabitants, there are still a few green areas such as Coconut squares which gives some breathing spaces to it's citizens as well as free wi-fi. It seems that nobody works on Sunday because it is the day of... More

We wandered around for a few hours. This is a good addition to swimming at the Bain de Citron Beach. Within walking distance of each other

City square type place, free WiFi,so good place to catch up on social media,if,like us,didn't buy an internet package on board.Lots of indigenous youngsters meet here,& I don't recommend being here after dark. The white French were quite rude, once they knew we were tourists."Place of Coconuts" in English.

Most of Noumea is lovely. This "park" is a dump. The shows around the square cater to the poor and lack any charm. I expect that it is safe enough but there is no reason to visit.
