Interesting fact about a little know town available

Located within the Visitor Center inside the old railroad Depot. The pink neon sign in the photo is a sign inside the museum inside the visitor center, not outside the building. Visitor Center restrooms are pleasant and clean. Lots of tourist information for all areas of KS as well as Atchison. The Museum was fun. Very small, some interesting trivia... More

Museum is part of a welcome and tourist information center. We made a quick walk through and found it was loaded with facts and personallities of that town of Atchison. We did not have time to really stay and read all of the stuff but it would be a must see for locals and Kansas residents. The welcome center is... More

We found this trolley tour to be so very interesting and so very affordable!!! Learned so very much about the city and it's colorful history. Enjoyed the museum .. It was just the right size. Small enough to hold ones interest all the way through it but not so large one starts to hurry through it in order to see... More

This is a small museum BUT one well worth visiting! There is such a variety of exhibits that cover the history of Atchison and the surrounding area. You will find interesting displays about Lewis and Clark who came up the Missouri River at Atchison and celebrated the first Independence Day just a bit north of the town. The area where... More

Loved this little museum. Had history of the town all wrapped up in the historic depot. I came for the trains outside. I wish there had been more open to explore but it was Sunday when we here

Always FUN to stop in and see what the town is promoting, enjoy the museum and watch the movies of Amelia Earhart and other exhibits. At Halloween, go inline late Sept to purchase Trolley Rides for Halloween Week. There are trolleys year round to tour the city and point out the historic homes and Atchison history.

We had the opportunity to visit this museum and get a little more knowledge of the Atchison, Kansas area. It has exhibits that cover quite a range of the local history and some nice displays. Some of the exhibits were in need of maintenance with faded descriptions and one of the displays looked like there were going to put up... More

We were the last tour of the evening and the trolley was broke down so we used a tour bus. The windows were tinted and also steamed over so we could not see out of them. They would stop at a home and we couldn't see it. The narrator was young and flippant. She would first play a recording then... More

It's an okay tour on the trolley to see the "haunted" homes in Atchison. We went mid-afternoon and the trolley was full. The audio recordings they play were hard to understand (very static-y) and the windows on the trolley need some serious cleaning, it was hard to see out of them it was so dirty. The tour goes by very... More

I was surprised to see among all the Railroad memorabilia they had a large collection of antique firearms. Nice little small budget museum.
