This is one of the most amazing places i've ever visited: yes, having a jewish husband adds some importance, but there is such an atmosphere, such an energy you can't help feeling it. Leaving apart the historical/cultural part, even the "jungle" itself is gorgeous, fat...More

Although it's a place of huge historical value, I must admit I was a little disappointed visiting Jodensavanne. There wasn't much left to see except two graveyards and some bricks that belonged to the synagoge. It's a place I wouldn't have want to have missed...More

The first Synagogue in south America, the history of the Jews in Suriname and the precious jungle will show you a lot of her secrets.

The jodensavanne is approximately an one hour drive from Paramaribo and you can also see during this ride a bit of the countryside of Suriname. The Jodensavanne is beautiful located on the banks of the Suriname river and in the jungle of Suriname. The site...More

This was an interesting place to see, but there is not really much there...and it is a long way to go. But for those who are interested in religion and history, it is worth the effort to visit. I would recommend a tour book/information prior...More

Been here for a daytrip. Except for the ruins and 2 graveyards there is nothing to see. Area needs maintenance and cleaning. Looks abandoned. Total time spent was about 1 hour so skip this and do something more interesting instead.

My husband and I had a day to visit Paramaribo and made the perfect choice-a personal guided tour with Marina Da Costa to Jodensavanne. Marina knows this region better than most-she's a descendant of one of the earliest settlers in this area. The region is...More

Another place which is worth visiting it. You can take a tour with a guide from stichting Joden Savanne. They can tell you about the history and show you it's history! It's a place where the history of Jews in Suriname began.
