The Banco de la República Gold Museum houses one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic metallurgy in the world. As its history, which dates back to 1939, has unfolded, so this institution has become a symbol of Colombia's cultural memory. Its golden exhibition, fully renewed in November, 2008, is a place you cannot miss in your next trip to Bogota.

This is a must-see museum while in Bogota. The day we went, it was free (yay for us!), but be advised that this was also when school groups were going. The exhibits are beautifully presented and captioned in Spanish and English. It was very educational and gave us a re-newed respect for the history and cultures represented.

This three story building is kept well and they only charge $4.000 COP to get in which is like $1.30usd- you will see lots of colombian- indian artefacts with their history- if you are interested in history, this is the place for you- visit time, 1 to 3 Hours - it's located in downtown Bogotá-

Wide set up, great information (loved the timeline of the different continents in one overview) anf the lighting on the pieces is incredible. Must visit! Who doesn't like shiny, expensive artifacts

There are people who like museums and people who don't and I would even advice the second type to visit this museum. The architecture is great (made by German Samper, one of the top colombian architects) and all of the exposition is beautiful. You can learn a lot about indigenous populations of Colombia and see beautiful pieces of gold.

The museum contains a bunch of gold pieces in chronological order, but without an engaging story around them.

Is nice on a rainy day. Went through it on my own not knowing we would be going through as a group. I enjoyed it much more the first time. It's not one that I can visit over and over, but it is a nice museum.

This is one of the must see attractions in Bogota. It is well done so organized, it shows the history of Gold in Colombia. It gives information about gold in general, it's components. It has a wonderful collection of jewelry. The museum is kids friendly in a sense that it has elevators, restaurant. There is a souvenir shop which has... More
