I was taken on a tour by my guide, Mohammad. The Mosque is home to the Tomb of St. John the Baptist. It also has remnants of Byzantine art. One of the oldest mosques in the world. It’s a must-visit when in Damascus.

Just go see, it's so beautiful and serene. They lend you a robe to wear over your own clothes. Great place for meditation no matter what religion or none you belong to.

Just show up at the mosque any day and you can pay for entry. I am not aware of any guided tour of the mosque.
