Souq Al Hamidiyyeh reflects the old Syrian lifestyle. The shops there had been inherited from generation to another. I like the great relationship and combination among the owners of the shops there. They will invite your to share them Breakfast when you pass by their shops, even they do not know you... Great people

Souk al hamidiya is one of the oldiest souks in the world. It is situated in the centre of the old city in Damascus... It concludes more than 50 market where you can buy antika thing or a cultural thing...

I have been there before the damn war in Syria, which I hope to be over asap. Anyway pin it to your mind: you have not visited Syria altogether if you miss this one. The experience is pure middle eastern! Have some snacks with you, you may want to share them with the kids who come to you while approaching... More

Damascus is noted for the most famous Souq in all of the Middle East, and is called: Hamidiyah Souq! This has been a main-stay for shopping for thousands of years, yes thousands of years. Hamidiyah Souq route is first along the side of the famous Damascus Citadel and runs the entire length to end to the front entrance of the... More

I visited in Summer of 2010 before the war started and Souq-Hamidiyyeh is one of the highlights of my trip. I spent a lot of time around the old city so I visited a number of times. A real historical souq. I am not sure of the status of the area now, but it was spectacular.
