This is a poor trip out and not a great trip and a small poor Souk compared to others in other Arabian / European cities.

A very average souk, the shops are very similar with souvenirs and many products from India and China. Make sure to negotiate prices as they are over priced and focus on tourists. Nice to see but you can get many nicer things from other shops, the shop at our hotel at the same products as one shop and cheaper!

The first thing that hits you as you enter the souk is the fragrance of burning frankincense. The souk is fully covered and is loaded with omani antiques, lamps, and of course frankincense. Plenty of shops and you can get good bargains if you know how to haggle! Beware of fakes though ( made in china)

Interesting place to walk around. You can wonder around and absorbe the smells and watch the scenary. People are friendly and no one is pushy....more or less they all sell same things. Suq has roof which is not usuall. The only thing is that is quite hard to find the parking spot. So we parked away and had nice walk... More

... not as crowded as other Souks, also vendors not as pushy as in other countries. Even with a few public toilets in the Souk

Despite a lot of repetitive junk this is still a wonderful place to wander around - the air is redolent with frankincense and the traders are generally very nice. However, it is best to get there early before the cruise ship passengers arrive unless you have a lot of time to wait while the nuances of the local currency are... More

Only a small souk so can cover in no time. Had the usual pestering to buy scarves but no where near as bothersome as say Marrakesh or India. Some of the shops are so packed with goods that it would take forever to sift through. Lots of bargains and you can barter to get the price down. They seem to... More
