An amazing site that is situated in one of the seven hills that made up Amman the wonderful capital of Jordan. Most of the sites available there reflect Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad periods of Jordan history. The museum available there includes historical objects that were found in the site. Moreover, if you want to explore Amman, this place is the... More

It was a sunny, winter morn. Climbed up and spend a couple of hours there. Good view of Amman from the top. Very safe with Police presence. Mini museum there. Stroll inside. Lots of history. Some Tour Guide will want you to hire them for a small fee but we elected to be left alone. These Tour Guide won't hassle... More

For only 3 JD, this beautiful site in central Amman, sitting on a hill overlooking Wast Al-Balad (downtown), should not be missed! Perhaps it was simply when I went (a weekend in mid-September) but there were practically no other tourists there! My group of fiends opted out of a guide, but I don't feel like that took away from the... More

A historically rich site covering a range of historical epochs...from Roman citadel to Umayyad castle...a beautiful well maintained site. To get acquainted with all the rich details and hidden history of the place, get a guide. Once you are done touring the place, finish up with visiting the small museum the site plays host to.

Stay in downtown of the city of Amman and you will be only 15min by walk, away from this historical and amazing place. Dont forget it opens at 8am, and you need maybe one h to visit it (with picutres) all the best.

The entry ticket is not too expensive (3JOD) and if it's your first sight in Jordan it has quite a lot to offer.

Walking from the Roman amphitheater up the hill was supposed to be easy but there was no signs. It felt like we were walking through someone's garden and breaking and entering. However that was an adventure and finally we met tourists. Despite the rain pouring down it was a memorable worthwhile visit both for the view and the ruins. There... More
