What the picture here shows is the main-gate into the Christian Quarter. But the Christian Quarter Rd. is in fact a lovely little ally, first left if you come dow from the Jaffa Gate into the market. I visit there a lot, so never mind what month I put on the questionnaire, he he. The fourth shop on the left... More

It's worthwhile to visit all the quarters of the old city as they offer something different in each.

There are merchants selling touristy items. The architecture and history are interesting. Go during daylight hours.

The Christian Quarter with its highlight, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, is a must to see. Hundred thousands of Christian pilgrims come here every year.

It's been around for a while and you can see the wear and tare on the road and buildings. However, it's a good place to take various types of photos.

Several major tourist attractions can be found here. A tour is a must and fun. Here ends the Via Dolorosa, anyway compulsory program. As any old town in the world, totally overpriced souvenir shops, where people act like there was no tomorrow!

Make sure you go with a certified guide. He´ll give you the version you want to hear (Greek-orthodox, roman-catholic, lutheran, jewish, etc). You can take walking tours. Everything you learned as a "legend", becomes reality.
