Interesting to be in this spot

As a Christian, I appreciated the significance of this location. But if you are not a Christian, it probably would not be worth visiting.

Don't miss a photo of the beautiful doors at the entrance to the church. In the basement, there is a pit, possibly the same pit where Jesus was held the night before he was crucified. This gives you an picture in your mind of what he might have gone through, dark and alone, lowered through a hole in the ceiling...... More

They created a church on top of the site. 90% sure that this is the real site as excavations shows that this place has pottery and silverware (steel) that could only belong to a high priest's house. It's interesting to see and go down into the house that is on the side of a hill to see the cavern where... More

This is the house of Kaiavas, where Jesus was put in the pit the night before He was crucified. There are still stairs left where Jesus actually walked on, and then also is the place where Peter denied Jesus

The church is very close to the Dormition Abbey. Very beautiful exterior, entrance doors are beaten copper bound, with lovely chiselled images. The interior of the Church is a mixture of Ancient and New. New and old steps, new and old mosaics and statues, very old crypt and caves, and very new stone carvings. Very nice views on the Jerusalem... More

The house of the High Priest where Jesus was taken during the night after His arrest . You must read Psalms 88 to understand what did happen here in the dark hours of His life .
