It’s a fancy exclusive and historic neighborhood- private homes with gates and signs to be quiet or to not trespass (see my one photo).

I didn’t get much out of walking through here…. maybe it would be better with a guide telling the history.

Quiet oasis
Jun 2020
A beautiful and peaceful suburb surrounded by the noise and bustle of the city, Yemin Moche is a great area to stay in order to easily visit the Old CIty, while being able to escape the madness if necessary.

Some might find it a little quiet and genteel, but bars and markets are within easy walking distance.

Shakespeare in the park
Aug 2018 • Couples
For the eighth summer running, one can enjoy free of charge an amateur troUpe's performance of a Shakespeare play. Tonight we went to the opening show of this year's play, Hamlet. It started at 5:30 PM and ended at close to 8 PM. Slightly abridged. It is called Theater in the Rough and the large park right above Yemin Moshe Quarter is the venue.
Audience moves with the actors from spot to spot.
Comes with a complimentary program.
Donations are accepted and appreciated and they sell t-shorts and tote bags with appropriate printing on them for a few extra shekels donation.
Eight more shows this month.

Beautiful Neighborhood
Jul 2018 • Family
Although labeled a “quarter”, note that this neighborhood is outside of the Old City, not in it, it is great walking these cobblestone streets and looking at the nice homes. If you leave the old city and have the energy to walk, much of it on stairs, I recommend this beauty.

Beautiful
Jul 2018 • Couples
Lovely section of Jerusalem, cobblestone lanes, beautifully planted and manicured trees, flowers, planters, residential area so need to be respectful of people’s privacy, very quiet area, Montifiore’s windmill is here and his coach, broad areas for viewing the Old City and Mount Scopus, lots of steps and climbing but well worth it. Close to many tourist hotels and easy walking distance from center city. Close to YMCA and King David hotel. Recommend for sightseeing.

A beautiful couple of hours spend wandering the alleys of this old Jerusalem neighbourhood- highly recommend a detour while in the area visiting the Old City.

Yemin Moshe neighbourhood west of the Old City
May 2017 • Couples
Yemin Moshe is a neighbourhood west of the Old City that was founded near the end of the end of 19th century to help elevate overcrowding conditions in the Old City at that time. From here much of the New City spread west to the city you find today.

We enjoyed visiting the Bloomfield Garden and the small but lovely Mishkenot Shaananim village area as well as the Montefiore's Windmill and Herod's Family Tomb. Along King David Street on the west side of Yemin Moshe you will also find the historic King David and YMCA hotels as well as art galleries and a handful of eateries.

Other interesting things to see here include Montefiore's Windmill, Herod's Family Tomb and the nearby Mishkenot Shaananim neighbourhood. You are also very near the King David Hotel and impressive YMCA building.

Elegant
May 2017 • Couples
We are staying in "Sultan's Refuge" in Yemin Moshe and the apartment is elegant and the neighborhood is so picturesque! We look out on the Old City walls and hear church bells ringing and the muezzin call to prayer. There are beautiful plantings on every street and of course the ubiquitous Jerusalem cats. Yemin Moshe is well situated for tourists.

one of my favorites in Jerusalem
Oct 2016 • Family
one of the first neighborhoods outside the walls of the old city, this little neighborhood is beautiful and historic. I would recommend taking someone who knows the history of the place throughout the years, there are some interesting stories and known people who lived here.
take the time to explore and just walk around.
the view of the old city at sun set is one to remember, along with the sounds of the churches bells.
please remember people live there so be respectful and quiet.

Super cozy and beautiful place to walk at. Reminds Greece a little bit. It has wonderful little houses and amazing plants and flowers all around.
