From the Old City it’s a beautiful sight. Getting there wasn’t so easy. They could use some better signage. When we finally got there we walked inside to find that it’s essentially a beautiful foyer. It would have been better if we just settled for seeing it from afar.

This Church is open to non-Orthodox visitors on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:00-12:00. As you enter the grounds of the church you wander through lush and serene gardens. We were keen to see the tomb of Princess Alice, mother in law of Queen Elizabeth but was unavailable. Instead we saw the tombs of 2 saints, Elizabeth and Barbara. We were... More

This is a wonderful church in Russian architecture dedicated to Mary Magdalene. It's only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm. The domes are a sight to behold. The interiors are done beautifully. It's very peaceful in there.

From anywhere in Jerusalem you see the beautiful Golden Domes and wonder what is inside there. As you walk down the Mt. Olivet you see the large stone wall with only a steal door with a lock. On our pilgrimage, our Eastern Orthodox Melkite Greek Father was able to talk the young nun into letting us visit for a short... More

I was struck by the beautiful Church of Saint Mary Magdalene. It is good to make a walk to this place and you will be filled with the same love of Mary of Magdala.

Attention-getting architecture. I found the entry gate...."the green door." I was not allowed to enter because I am not Orthodox. Be sure to snap a photo of the beautiful golden domes.

Peaceful church and gardens with interesting architecture. Nice to visit for a little serenity after walking the streets of Old Jerusalem.

Mary Magdalene was the first to see Christ after his resurrection. The church was built by Tsar Alexander III in 1886 to honor his mother, Empress Maria Alexandrovna. Two martyred saints, Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna of Russia and her fellow nun Varvara Yakovleva, are buried in the church. It is a beautiful church with outstanding view to the Old Jerusalem.... More
