The Rockefeller contains some hidden gems for those truly interested in the archaeological finds during the 19th century. We found some of the exhibits fascinating...but, be forewarned. The signage is antiquated, and there may be some errors. The museum architecture itself is worth a visit, there is a friendly small restaurant on the grounds, and the admission was free.

Amazing artifacts dating to before 3000 BC. Valuable information and artifacts about the history of Jews in the region.

If you want to step back in time and get a feel of a British Mandate museum then go to the Rockefeller. The exhibits are almost all dated to almost a century ago but that adds to the feeling. The architecture is a marvel and will remain so forever. It alone is worth the price of admission. We were lucky... More

The Rockefeller Museum or the Palestinian Archeological Museum is really out of time. It's really not as you expect a museum should be.At least a modern museum.Somehow the atmosphere is like being at the beginning of 1900. You can "breath" the ancient history of region and you have the idea of living something unique and special. No entry fee. Really recommended

I'm not a museum person. That's how I managed to live in Jerusalem for 30 years and never go to the Rockefeller Museum. Yesterday a friend dragged me there. The museum building is really beautiful, like a mixture of an Ottoman palace and an Oxbridge college. The inner courtyard is exquisite. The displays themselves are quite interesting, varied, and in... More

Between rating average and very good is some difference in my opinion. This museum should be classified as good. That's enough. It is a bit classical organised museum with some very interesting artefacts. I think this museum needs a facelift.Modern methods as internet, flat screens and video images could explain much better than dusty displays in three languages. I am... More

A wonderful free museum to check out just outside the Damascus Gate. This was the main archaeology museum before Independence and you can see fascinating exhibits from PreHistoric Man to Crusader sculptures.

The museum walks one through the history of the region with artifacts from various time periods during the history of the Palestine/Israel region. It really gives a good perspective and a lot of very interesting items are on exhibit.
