    A place for prayer
This is one of the best known places in the New Testament with an extremely sad and poignant feel. The garden is beautifully laid out and tended. Some of the olive trees are said to be 2000 years old and certainly look it. It should be a place for quiet contemplation but the number of visitors make this difficult. Nevertheless a must see site.

    A must see
Beautiful and serene. Located on the Mount of Olives. Some of the olive trees are from the time that Jesus walked through the Garden of Gethsemane. No trip to The Holy Land is complete without visiting these Holy Gardens.

    Mystical and magical
Arrived at dusk, during magic hour. The blue haze illuminating the walls of the old city above. Enclosed behind its own wall, the garden that played such a key part in the Messiah’s story…only to find it closed. But a lovely priest let us in for a few breaths and we had a brief moment with perhaps not the tree, but their roots that heard the whispered conversation between Jesus and his betrayer.

    Beautiful!!
It's like a small pocket park with lots of incredibly old olive trees. You can walk around it really quickly and the Basilica is next door. Quite lovely though crowded.

A place to evoke thought and prayer.
This place is what you make of it. If you do not understand it's Christian significance it is just a walled garden with a few olive trees. There is no shade as such and I didn't see a place to sit but the Church next door is a wonderful space to complete any contemplation / prayer. It is free to visit and gives the visitor a unique understanding of its location to the city.

Jesus's agony and betrayal in this Garden
This humble garden resonates with Christians. The Garden of Gethsemane is the place where Jesus went through the agony of betrayal and suffering the night before he was arrested. The next day, Jesus was crucified, dead and buried, before his resurrection. All four Gospels agree on Jesus' suffering and fate. The Garden of Gethsemane is at the base of the Mount of Olives.

This was a historic site where I could imagine myself at the scene. We spent almost an hour praying and contemplating. Our tour group had the space to ourselves, so we were able to have private time in the garden away from other visitors.

This is a small garden attached to the Church of All Nations. If you walk around it, it only takes minutes. But, you can sit and contemplate where you are and what has happened here. It is serene.

Beautiful and well maintained. Parking can be challenging. However, this is a small, peaceful location that doesn't take long to see, yet it has a significant meaning.

Gethsemane was a favourite location of Jesus and the disciples at the fringe of Mount Olive. They gathered in solace with a rural ambiance. The roads to Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, and Bethany were also nearby. Judas Iscariot identified Jesus with a kiss for the Temple guards and Roman soldiers here. He was arrested and brought to High Priest Caiaphas in Sanhedrin.

These silent olive trees bore witness to the passion and agony of Jesus on the night of betrayal. We were told they remained untouched and carbon dated to 2 millenniums ago. There are 4 churches in the vicinity of Gethsemane. We are inside the Church of All Nations, built over the "Rock of the Agony".

Garden of Gethsemane is a peaceful and calm place and full of historical and religious implications. Thinking of Jesus once prayed there 2000 years ago makes the place special.
