This was divine! Came again & again to the weeping rock.... It is best to go by foot, and take it slow; it's a totally different experience!

The Gardens themselves are relatively small and unimpressive, and unacessible, they are fenced to prevent tourists to stroll amongst the trees. The olive trees themselves are absolutely amazing, and the meaning of the place to Christians makes it a very special place to visit. The access is very easy from the Old City, it is free but can be packed with visiting groups and tour busses. From the Gardens, you can walk up alongside the hill to hace a wonderful view of the Jerusalem remparts.

Beautiful and quiet place to pray. Our group was lucky to be able to visit a private side of the garden.

The peacefulness of olive trees which have existed for hundreds of years. Yet, so significant when considering the historical steps of our Lord Jesus Christ. A must visit.

This is supposed to be where Jesus was arrested before his crucifixion. In any event, there are some very old olive trees and it is free to get into.

What can be said. JESUS walked here. 2000 year old olive trees. What a feeling to just be here. It is a treasure!

Again another place that is pretty verified to be where Jesus walked… it is smaller than I thought and, of course, marked off so that you look more at the Garden than walking amongst the trees which is understandable to protect the area. We did not have crowds and we got to be there pretty much alone. In regular crowded times, I would go very early to have the place more to myself,

This is a significant biblical site to see but it is not as impressive as I had expected. Trip advisor requires 100 characters but there is not much to say. It was a block with some olive trees. Not very impressive to see but has a great deal of biblical significance.

if you plan to visit Jerusalem all you need is a map! All things are close, for example from lions gate to ghetsimani garden you need to walk less than 10 minutes. i also recommend to use public transport because us very cheap, they have a card and you need to fill it with a daily pass wich is around 13 shekels aprox 4 dolars and you can change bus and trams with this. When you buy something from old city, negotiate first! The prices can decrease in some cases with 40%😉

Hello. I took a picture of the operating hours at their door. Summer ( April - Sept ) from 8am -6pm. Winter ( Oct - March ) 8am-5pm. We went there during early hours to avoid the crowds.

I visited the Garden of gethsemane with a daily tour - 8 hours walking from the Mount of olives, along all the holly places, along Via dolorosa, time off for lunch in a nice armenian restaurant and the tour end at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. I did this walk with The Bain Harim Tourism - highly recommende. Enjoy your stay in Jeruzalem.

How close will I be able to come to the rock where Jesus prayed? This is the holiest moment of the Bible for me and I would like to make this visit in Sept. very special. What arrangements can I make?

At one time one of the Olive trees in the Garden, was considered to be as old as the times of Jesus. Later, carbon dating showed that it was less than 1000 yrs old. So it did not belong to the time of Jesus. The exact spot or rock cannot be determined after more than 2000 years and the history of so many wars in that land. Some purport a specific rock, but there is no real proof for it. There is no question, however, that the Garden of Gaths-amin is the same place that Jesus prayed. So any place in that Garden, a place of quiet, to reflect on the agony the Messiah hesitated to undertake, but undertook nevertheless is good enough. And use that moment to submit in obedience to God to make those difficult decisions that are contrary to your own will.

It is religious site. No charge for entry. Only some postcard sellers outside. Like all churches there will be a donation box if you wish to leave something.
