Preserved in time, how many pilgrims have passed through this gate. We saw many families going through on one of the Easter days. Take picture from both sides, although the eastern side is a bit foreshortened.

Best entrance to get to tower of david museum. There are lots of hustle and bustle at this entrance and it is right across from mamilla street which is an upscale mall type location.

To walk through The Jaffa Gate is become a part of history! So many famous moments have surrounded this gate that it is impossible not to be awed by walking through. It's not a huge place, as it seems to be in literature, but it's significance is obvious. Our guide from Don-Tours painted an amazing picture for us before we... More

Our first foray into the Old City - the shopkeepers were just way too pushy and made me very uncomfortable. Visiting again the next day we found a similar experience - again only near the Jaffa Gate. The rest of the Old City was much more pleasant.

The Old City can be difficult to navigate! If you enter through Jaffa Gate, there is a very helpful Tourist info center just inside the gate, and the beginning of the amazing markets!

This is by far the best entrance to Jerusalem. There is a restroom to your left once you enter the gate. This is hidden a bit. Then shops and the Tower of David are near. Also, there are taxi cabs waiting here for you. I always tell our cab driver to drop us off at this gate. Seems safe here.... More

Jaffa Gate is a beautiful entrance and not nearly as crowded as the Damascus Gate...however; buy your purchases near the Damascus Gate and not the Jaffa Gate....better yet, buy them outside of Old City to save a buck. Jaffa Gate is right next to the Tower of David.

This is like the meeting point for people and the main square before one enters the innards of the old city. Very atmospheric and also very expensive all around.

An enormous market in the small streets with an uncountable quantity of little shops where you can buy all imaginable things.

its good to have a guide explaining things - otherwise it would only look like a bunch of buildings.
