The main entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City faces the west toward the old port of Jaffa, and is located next to one of the city’s best-known sites, the Tower of David or Citadel. There are seven gates open: New Gate, Zion, Dung, Jaffa, Lions’ (St. Stephen's), Herod’s, and Damascus (Shechem).

We took the number 480 bus from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem central station. Went outside and jumped the tram to the Jaffa Gate stop and walked into the old city. Once inside you can barter with guides for a personal tour and avoid huge costs...More

to get acess in the old city you have to cross several gate but the most important and famous gate that is usualy used for the people is Jaffa Gate

We came upon this gate as we wandered around the old city of Jerusalem. It is near some places to eat as well as little souvenir shops. It has the L-shape to it which was a means to deter invaders.
