The Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem is the only museum in the world dedicated to the history of the Ancient Near East from a biblical perspective. The core exhibition displays an extraordinary collection of ancient art and archaeology tracing the roots of monotheism from the dawn of civilization to early Christianity. The treasures on display represent the physical evidence of civilization and events described in the Bible. Traditions, rituals, religions, and cultures are revealed through ancient ivories, mosaics, jewelry, seals, terra cotta and stone sculptures. The magnificent cultures of ancient Egypt, Sumer, Assyria and Babylon come to life before you.The exhibits feature the Assyrian ivories from Nimrud (circa 800 B.C.), sarcophagus of Julia Latronilla dated from the 4th century and an impressive collection of cylinder seals and scarabs.

Perfect size for a museum, not too big to get lost in. Contains artifacts from Israel, Egypt an neighbor civilizations. It is right next door to the more famous Israel museum, where you could easily spend a whole day, but you should not overlook this gem.

It may have been a bit over the head of some of the younger kids, but a terrific museum with artifacts going back thousands of years. Kids really appreciated being able to see and get a greater understanding of the time and places of events that took place in Tanakh.

So complete, so organized. Audio tour accompanies ticket. I feel like I just completed a semester in ancient history! I wish I could bring my kids and grandkids! *Slight discount if you show your ticket from the Israel museum.

The guided tour of the new exhibit, the Valley of David and Goliath which explorers a recent archeological discovery is excellent. You see first hand how historians and archeologists use clues left for them to determine how ancient cities came to be and who lived there.

The Museum has artifacts from Ancient Near East civilizations from the dawn of civilization (stone age) to the early Christian eras. The collection is mostly in good condition so it's easy to relate to the objects and get glimpses of the cultures. There are 20 "rooms" - each room has a theme and is part of the timeline - on...
